Raven Dark

As to when Buffy, Giles, and Angel would have come up with the plan to trick Faith, as someone said on another reaction, I think it happened after the soul-stealer demon went to the mayor. When Giles was talking to him near the end, he said, "Thanks for coming to me with this. And for that rather effective light show you put on." That suggests that, after he spoke to the mayor and agreed to use his magic to take Angel's soul, he went to Giles and informed him of what was happening. Then Giles, Angel and Buffy would have hatched their plan. As someone also pointed out, Buffy and Giles exchanged a look as she was leaving, after everyone was talking about how to find information on the mayor, the part where Cordy said Wesley had a nice voice. I think that look between Buffy and Giles, when he said "Be careful," was meant to imply they already had the plan in place and he was warning her how dangerous it was. I agree with Ashley. I don't think Angel and Faith had sex, but I suppose there is a small possibility they did. When Angel said to Buffy that he never meant things to go that far, he just meant that he hated putting Buffy through having to see him have to go so far to pretend to want or be into Faith. Kissing her, pretending to play Buffy, having to play the role of Angelus so deeply. He may have even meant things like having to hit Xander and manipulate Joyce in order to get in. Then again, he may have meant he didn't want to end up having sex with Faith. I can see how it might have been possible. In the scene where he pretended to turn into Angelus, when Faith was kissing him, if she had pushed for sex, he may have had to go along with it, because if he refused, it would have looked suspicious. It's kind of like the undercover cop who has to play the part of someone who's buying drugs from a dealer. If the dealer wants to test whose side the cop is on by having him sample the drugs, he might have to actually do them to make it look real, even if that means getting high and doing some wacked out shit to make it look real. But I say there is a small chance only because I would like to think that if Faith pushed for sex, Angel would have found a way to avoid it without blowing his cover. As for Buffy needing a break, I think she just found it too much seeing Angel pretend to be evil. Like you said, it brought back memories. In another reaction, someone mentioned that they understood why they didn't tell Wesley or Xander, because they wouldn't have gone along with it, but they wondered why the scoobies didn't tell Willow. You didn't mention that, but in case you're wondering the same, i think they didn't tell Willow because she wouldn't have been able to keep the cover going. We've seen more than once that Willow is a terrible liar, and gets too nervous when she has to keep secrets. Remember in Lie to Me, when she got so nervous at having to hide from Buffy that she was helping Angel look into Ford? That's why. I also think they didn't tell Cordy because she might have thought they were being too reckless and told Wesley for their own good. And they wouldn't tell Oz because it would have meant putting him in a terrible position if they couldn't tell Willow. So in the end, the safest bet was to make sure that only Buffy, Angel, and Giles knew. Great reaction, JV. And to one of the best episodes in the series.

I rewatched the part with the twist like 4 times lol was so great. Don't want to tell you if Faith and Angel had sex or not because the only reason I know the answer to that is from watching further episodes. it seems like they want the audience to believe it, with the beginning of the episode being about Buffy and Angel showing restraint when being intimate to the end where he and faith seem to go all out, not to mention the candles lit on the floor and Buffy looking all depressed.
