Highly recommend you watch Shin Godzilla, it came out in 2016 and was sort of the rebirth of the Godzilla movies in Japan. It focuses a lot on the politics and the Godzilla is the most unique one I've ever seen. Definitely worth a watch just to see Godzilla's design

Also you’re right JV, this is representing Godzilla as the traditional creature as a result of nuclear weaponry. Shin Godzilla looks at the governments effectiveness or lack thereof, like during the Fukushima tsunami and meltdown
