It astounds me sometimes the movies you haven't seen!!! You're a huge sci fi guy but youve NEVER SEEN E.T.??? THAT IS A MUST. Honestly any steven speilburg movie you haven't seen you need to watch haha

Elle Fanning’s performance (particularly the scene where her character is able to cry on cue in the movie-within-a movie) low key points out, not just how gifted she is as an actress, but also how talented ALL these kids are…She is playing a character who has to have a natural gift of acting, but is almost blasé about it. Which also points out that the young actor playing her scene partner has the (arguably even more daunting of a task) of playing a kid who is about as talented of an actor as you would expect an amateur kid with a blossoming interest in acting would have. So, essentially, he has to convincingly play a kid who is earnest but noticeably poor at acting, while not forgoing the illusion that he himself is an actor playing a character plying another character…It’s very meta, and an enormously challenging feat for even an adult actor to pull off (RDJ in Tropic Thunder comes to mind as a successful example) and all of these kids pull it off seamlessly, without ever distracting you or pulling you out of the film. It’s a real thankless job to be a child actor that more often than not ends in a maladjusted development into adult life, but every single one of these kids here killed it.
