Rey short movie - progress report #janaury (Patreon)

Hey everyone,

its time again to talk about the current state of my Rey project. 

Before i start, if you just want to see new work in progress images and animations, then you might skip this post and wait for next week. Because then i will post new and updated work in progress footage from this project.

Is there a release date?

Lets clear the elephant in the room first. No, there is still no release date yet.

This movie gets released when its ready, and i really mean that. I thought about possible release dates a couple of times, and then shortly after that i came to the conclusion that this would just set me under unnecessary pressure. I gave myself deadlines years before, and it never really worked for me.

So therefore i will only come up with a release date when this project is almost ready to go. I will need atleast 3-4 more months to complete all animations, and i need to work on sound and probably music. Voice acting for Rey is on my list as well. I know wich voice actress im going to aim for, i just need to prepare the "script" and have a few chats.

Current state of animations

My goal is to publish some animations from this movie every month, or at least every 2 months till release. Its a good way to provide public content, and to give everyone a little glimpse of what im planing to do with this movie. 

Currently im working on 3-4 different scenarios with probably more than 10 different animations in total. Each animation will feature several camera angles with detailed setpieces.

The story?!

For my bigger projects i like to inlcude some little story telling. And this one isnt really different.

The plot is about rey discovering her "dark side", and by that she creates her "dark rey" persona. From there on "dark rey" is like the devil on Rey´s shoulders ,and since this movie is about naughty things, she manipulates her to do those exactly naughty things. 

Dark Rey creates visions and dreams. This allows me to have more than one setpiece in this short movie, this allows me to do some creative stuff. I really hope that this works out like i imagine.

So i hope that i gave you a bit more insight in my plans for this movie. There is still some work to do, and because this project is kinda big i will work on other animations here and there as well. I dont want to get burned out to quickly by working only on rey over and over again, thats why i like to work on different stuff like final fantasy , or resident evil  for example. But i will keep my main focus on Rey. I will get this project done, just like my other big projects before.

Like i said new updated work in progress footage can be expected next week.
