Here's the final edited video! It's changed a bit since the script I posted the other night. I added a few more thoughts here and there, as well as a few comments on the rest of the season beyond the first 2 episodes that I mainly focus on. Also; there's VIDEO haha. <3 Hope y'all enjoy it. I'm gonna go back to finishing this draft of my Deep Space Nine video and VFX for IDENTITEAZE now that I've got this out of my system haha. Thanks for all the support everyone and hope you had a good weekend!

The Avatar Remake Doesn't Understand Avatar

The Netflix live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender seems to completely misunderstand the themes of the original animated series. ✔ SUPPORT ✔ ▶Patreon - patreon.com/jessiegender ▶PayPal - paypal.me/jessiegender ✔ QUOTE READINGS BY ✔ ▶@FinntasticMrFox ▶@Johnny2Cellos ▶Erin Coyle ✔ OTHER PLATFORMS ✔ ▶Main Channel - youtube.com/lostrekkie ▶Nebula - nebula.app/jessiegender ▶After Dark Channel - youtube.com/channel/UCEpOFHzI2sToo7X1J6ON90g ▶Twitch - twitch.tv/jessiegender ✔ SOCIAL MEDIA ✔ ▶Twitter - twitter.com/jessiegender ▶Instagram - instagram.com/jessiegender/ ▶Facebook - www.facebook.com/jessie.gende... ✔ PODCAST ✔ ▶Babylon 5 Rewatch podcast w/Council of Geeks - councilofgeeks.libsyn.com/ ✔ SHOP ✔ ▶Book that I Helped Write - https://bit.ly/39EqtP4 ✔ CONTACT ✔ ▶E-mail - jearl1892@gmail.com ▶Mail - Jessie Earl PO BOX 85787 Seattle, WA 98145

The original show did show the genocide directly. It just didn't make it a "cool fight scene". As far as I remember, there was mostly a bombardment. Live-action presents it more as a war - with both sides actively fighting. The fighting, and not the murder, is the main unconscious takeaway from that scene. It focuses not on how evil it is to undertake, but on how hard a task it is for the perpetrator.

Excuse a late comment on this one, just getting time now. I really appreciated this video. It does a great job diagnosing the larger issue of our society's increasing inability to read/interpret texts, particularly to distinguish what characters say from what the text is saying. This is concerning and deserves more attention, so I really appreciate the in-depth look.
