It's the end of the Shadow War on Babylon 5, and it's "totally not political at all"!  Vera and I definitely don't talk any politics in this purely scifi fun show in our Jumpgate podcast!/s

The Jumpgate series does not seem to be on Nebula. Since I do not watch youtube, where can I watch it? ( Patreon is my way of not having to deal with the googles )

So at the risk of being pretentious… capitalism doesn’t require fascism. Fascism is a modern phenomenon that did not exist before the 20th century whereas capitalism is centuries old. I think the fact that you reached for this as an analogy when discussing Vorlons versus the Shadows just goes to show how I think that the narrative, and to some extent the theme, was ill served by the rushed season four. Thematically, it still works in so far as there is a false dichotomy that needs to be rejected/I really get what JMS was trying to do with the Vorlons even though the ending with them narratively does work for me.

How I know the Shadows didn't actually believe the ideology they were slinging is they should have been fine with Sheridan's whole "we chose neither" thing. It fits perfectly with the stated "chaos rules!" and "punch down to build up" attitude. They would have been "finally! you get it! look how strong you've gotten! we're so proud of you!" but nope. I always chalked it up to the fact the show was trying desperately to stay one step ahead of cancellation. But it also shows how the Shadows and Vorlons were far more interested in "follower count" than the ideology.

That could’ve been an interesting way to go with the shadows. It’s really a shame that the ending of the shadow of war is so weak narratively despite being so intriguing thematically. But ultimately I think what the show is saying about fascism & Earth is more important so I don’t disagree with JMS’s overall decisions in season 4.
