I just watched and just... wow. Yeah.

Nurse Chapel does a review for Jesse. Isn't that sweet.

Now that's Star Trek: discussing the issues without slapping it on too thick. It had all the feels.

Hi Jesse, I don't know why, but I'm so triggered by the way the mostly-white-straight-cis BNW is being loved and the mostly people-of-color, gay, queer and non-cis is reviled (even to some degree by you. You don't post about Discovery -- even about the amazing Rapp and Cruz -- without some apologia for why it's not a good show. Your LOVE for Captain Pike (And a completely straight non-Jewish Spock. Just white-out deluxe) saddens me. It's just touching on a lot of fear I have about where the world is going now (a lot worse of what always has been). Mine is not a popular view right now. Anyway, I love your presence so much. So I need to take a break rom your reviews (but not from your other posts) until I can understand why I'm so angry about Star-Trek-White-Reaction syndrome. I'll still keep supporting you on Patreon, just not checking your reviews as much. AND YOU ARE WONDERFUL!!!!

P.S. Have you read Octovia Butlers' The Parables? I'm reading her SciFi now and listening to the podcast by AMAZING women Toshi Reagon adrienne maree brown. Brown wrote the books Pleasure Acitivism and Emergent Activism. I think you'd LOVE these. They are at the intersection of where you live -- at where Truth, Heart and Courage connect to Future Street. Know that you are seen and your power and wisdom always a shaper of good in this world. Keep moving, keep working, keep being you.

❤️❤️ oh I totally understand. There is def a section of me that is upset that Picard and SNW, which are both mostly cis straight white led, are the afored series versus Disco. It’s not great, but I have faith in Trek, given Starfleet Academy will hopefully continue Discos legacy. But yeah, it certainly something Im also feeling and keeping an eye on.

Robert Cooper

The most Treky Trek in 20 years. S2E1 was, IMHO, a huge disappointment. This one made up for it in every way.

This was such a powerful episode, all done without any action scenes, or huge set pieces. It pulled no punches reflecting the prejudices of our world, especially the disgusting anti-transgender laws being introduced throughout the States. Rebecca Romijn has come such a long way as an actress, prior to Star Trek I knew her best for X-Men and little else. But now I've gained such respect for her as an actor. Yetide Badaki gave a powerhouse performance, I hope we get to see her appear in the series again. The scene hinting at the prejudice Spock has faced from other Vulcans while funny also added to the themes of this episode. The scene between La'an and Uhura was great as well, as Uhura held La'an to the high standards that she has held Uhura to.

I saw a notification of the bad news of Prodigy and really wanted to hear you vent, but the notification didn't lead me anywhere. Hope you didn't get flagged negatively again. :(

Jessie, your comment is so helpful. I was going to delete my rant -- I've done enough of these, and just breathe for a while. The web becomes a place where we can rant in a way that is unproductive. What a strange -- "Brave New World" we are all launching into together. Peace and Love, Laura
