I think this episode was slower to allow the time for all the emotional connections and grievances and for Beverly to be able to find the pattern. I really loved having that asteroid thrown at Vadic and Picard calling Shaw "a dipshit from Chicago." Every time they think of a "suicidal escape plan" I'm on pins and needles. Really well done.

Dang that was a good ep. And I'm glad we got the background to the hostility from the "dipshit from Chicago" makes perfect sense now ;-) Writers did an excellent job of joining the dots from a few motivational points.
