In regards to Garibaldi's very Cop line about not waiting to see if the perp has a weapon, I'm reminded of a speech that Sisko gave to Worf during the DS9 episode "Rules of Engagement": "We don't put civilian lives at risk or even potentially at risk! Sometimes that means we lose the battle, and sometimes our lives, but if you can't make that decision, then you don't deserve to wear that uniform." I want this speech tattooed into the eyes of every single person who will ever work with a firearm.

I am SO happy that I get to be the one to tell you about the Bear! The original version of the script that Peter David turned in had the props from the Emporium being used for crimes… I think it was toy guns, but the masks may have been used as well, it would have tied to the A Plot’s themes much better. But David also gave JMS a stuffed bear his then wife had made as a gift with the initials JS for Joe Straczynski on its jersey. JMS did not appreciate the gift and rewrote the scene to space the teddy bear. David was offended by his wife’s gift being snubbed and wrote the bear being located into an episode of Space Cases. They’ve both worked together since on the B5 novels and Spider-Man, so I guess the blood wasn’t too bad… also David divorced since, but… that’s why that plot is such a mess.

Yes, Straczynski wrote at length about the bear on usenet back when the episode first aired. Changing the ending and spacing the bear that was given as a thank you gift for the show buying David's script was a prank because Straczynski does not like "cute". I understand David then pranked back by incorporating the bear into his own show, as you said.

Let's hear it for the return of Na'Toth 1 actor Caitlin Brown as The Lawyer. Straczynski wrote about this on usenet when the episode aired. Brown simply turned up to audition without warning anybody ahead of time. She walked in, and they immediately said "of course, you got the part" or something to that effect.

As a neurodivergent person, I've always found Delenn's "all alone in a crowd" especially insightful. I look FORWARD to being "all alone in the dark," but in a crowd? Ugh. And while we don't really know if Delenn is an introvert or anything, she has just been largely shunned, so it rings differently yet again.
