I liked you & Vera talking about the parallels withe post office. Did you see that there has been good news on that front this year? https://prospect.org/power/reform-bill-reinforces-authority-for-postal-banking/

A few thoughts: are you going to change the intro as the seasons change? Not just because the intro of Babylon 5 gets to be very different, but also because it makes it sound like you and Vera get ito heated arguments when... clearly you get along quite well (beyond playful teasing, of course.)

Also, I'm really wondering how Vera is going feel about the show given she dislikes both the Delenn-Sheridan romance and the Shadow War on principle... might be a bit of a journey haha.

Conrad

I'm going to bet that Vera will end up liking the Shadow War because it is so involved in in politics. As for Delenn + Sheridan... yeah I don't see her opinion on that changing.

I don’t know, that really becomes a “banding together against a common foe” plot that overwhelms the more complex political machinations she’d been enjoying, and she doesn’t like the romance that becomes the heart of the show, and she’s kind of lukewarm at best with JMS’s “clever” dialogue, and the CGI battles… sooooo, season four doesn’t look too promising haha

JMS’s plans for a new B5 are more akin to what you were describing with the 2000’s Battlestar Galactica. He’s said it’s not going to be a retreading of the plot from the original 90’s show, but more of a how would he tell a story *now* in the general idea of the B5 universe in the 2020’s. He’s also said he’s got an idea for structuring the show that he thinks has the possibility to change the way stories are told on TV now, just like the original B5 did in the 90’s. Most of the scenes with characters talking over Babcom on the show were actually filmed with the actor on the other end acting into another camera that was fed into the monitor on the set where the scene was taking place! There’s some hilarious out takes (one from an episode coming up soon - “In the Shadow of Z’ha’dum” - which you can find on YouTube with other Babylon 5 bloopers) where actors on the monitor react to what happens on the other side of the filming. That was a super interesting point about the PsiCorps and the real life practice of extremist communities isolating people away from their support structures! It made me wonder if JMS’s real life experience of being in a cult for a short while influenced that part of the story. Sorta spoilers below… There was always a romance plot included in the planning of the show, even from what we know of the original drafts before production started. If you google “Babylon Prime,” there’s a description of the original planned plot of the show from a set of script books put out a decade ago.
