I hadn't had time to watch it and you post a review I can only watch afterwards 😅 just hope it's a good series

I had planned to give this show a pass but your review made me reconsider. I think I‘ll give it a shot.

So I had planned on not watching either “House of Dragon” or “Rings of Power.” I am still filled with sadness and anger over the narrative, thematic, and ethical abomination that were the final two seasons of GoT. I was also not planning on watching ”The Rings of Power” because I love Tolkien’s writings and was uncertain how you could possibly write a good show in his universe without access to his great works directly. However, I’m convinced from you that I should give the Amazon show a chance. (I will not give “House of the Dragon” a chance though— I’m still way way too hurt.)

Hey Jessie I read this article https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/tv-radio/2022/08/31/rings-of-power-the-new-hobbits-are-filthy-hungry-simpletons-with-stage-irish-accents-thats-1bn-well-spent/ And it was making me question giving Rings of Power my time. Since you've watched and reviewed it I'd like to get your opinion.

After GoT, kind of afraid of having my heart hurt by expectations put up, and up, and up to see the ball dropped in the end :( But will give it a go on the weekend.

I was going to jog by this series, but I so respect your eye, that I will check it out... 10 minutes in we have big continuity problems: The loss of Telperion and Laurelin and the death of Finrod is being attributed to Sauron (not Ungoliant\ Morgoth\ Balrogs). Galadriel never travelled to Middle Earth in search of Sauron, she was already already living there with Celeborn. They have manufactured an entire revenge narrative because they can't touch the Silmarillion backstory. It certainly looks great, but this is canon in character name only- I'm disappointed, and after some more wine I'm going to be angry with Amazon.

I cried a little when I saw the dwarves and Khazad-Dum. I couldn't care less about whether or not it's "canon", what matters is it is alive. I will always love seeing a thing thrive rather than be hidebound to keeping things as they were in the past. I suppose that does make it ironic that the dwarves are my favorite part of middle earth . glad I gave it a chance.

Julian

Thanks I had the same reaction but I also didn't wanted to be a good ally.

I saw the first two episodes. It didn't jive with me, but that's okay. I'm glad other people are enjoying it.
