Star Trek Enterprise takes on the HIV epidemic and the stigma faced by LGBTQ people during it.... a few years too late. Still, it's an interesting episode, and so let's talk about it on The Long Road

love the singing, oh and hai Newt. can't wait to see you at the Chicago con. it was too bad that the TNG hiv episode was cancelled back in the 80's/90's. but at least Trek has spoken on the issue omg, my timing really sucked this time, lolz. Newt, be nice, Jessie has a good voice... ive got, ive got, ive got... I agree Jessie, all poly relationships i've been in or seen are not about sleeping around, were only about an extended sexual/romantic family. Phlox is thinking he's so sly, talking about p'nar syndrome, but the vulcans are cautious and smart. well, if i was on the Enterprise, I'd be hitting on him too. and why are Archer's meals so often interrupted?... and damn, the vulcan's have figured things out. well, crap I'm unclear about why they use a neutron microscope rather than the more accurate electron microscope. withholding medical information is not lying, it's privacy, dammit Archer! for the record, i was alive and sexually active during the 80's and i do remember the terror of being in the queer community and trying to love but be safe. and yes Archer is being a jerk, but his heart, as usual is in the right place but he goes about things ... poorly sometimes. he really does care about T'Pol and wants her well and happy. I like the story arc of classic trek having mind melds being normal, but now we see the bigoted past of the vulcan viewpoint and how it's changed; it kind of mirror's how being gay is more and more accepted and one century people will be all "wait, people used to hate others for falling in love? wow, glad I live in the 22nd century" yes, Jessie's right, in San Francisco and other places, Md's and nurses opened underground clinics and take care of people with hiv. and, it does not matter if someone was coerced or not, everyone infected should be treated. ohmy are Soshi and Ms Phlox flirting? and what is it with Trek and the deliberate silly miscommunication trope? this isn't Three's Company. (sigh) well done T'Pol, don't give in to bigoted ideology (props to the writers) wow, i really like this episode and this arc (extra props to the writers) and if i'm being perfectly 100% honest (sigh) I'd act exactly like Trip re: the woman hitting on me 🖖
