Wood Elves, Scifi Buildings, Oh my! BTS #95 (Patreon)

What up, mini family?! It's been a productive week. Here's what went down! This past weekend I had Benjamin Kantor over to help shoot the first "digital course" of my new Wood Elf range. This course will be similar to my Duchess course, by written/painted entirely by Ben.
This was at the end of the process when Ben was reciting his script on camera. I was getting to play as "script supervisor" watching him read of his lines making sure we got a good take of everything we needed.
We found the golden angle for Ben in terms of cameras such that he could sit comfortably and also capture really excellent footage. We shot the whole class on my new BMPCC6k camera, so hopefully the camera footage looks crispy at the end of the pipeline.
He was able to achieve this in ~16 hrs of painting which is honestly amazing. He took it home with him to spruce up some of the blends for the purposes of being a box art of of the model, but the OSL effect is striking. You'll learn how to do this kind of OSL and all the considerations that goes into it in Ben's class!
I've been working on this Witch Hunter from Cursed City on my streams the past couple of Fridays. Making some good progress on him!
The scifi buildings are finally "complete". What I mean by that is the outside is smooth and ready for greebing, which is to say I'm going to glue on a ton of small little bits, rivets, details, etc. on these buildings to make them look even cooler! This process was pretty empowering in the sense that I feel like I could make any piece of terrain with my current tool set (maybe not one with a ton of curves). That makes me excited for future dioramas where I might want to get a really polished result.
I broke out my new Phrozen Sonic Mini 4K to print off some of these details which I bought from Trent's website micast.co. I am struggling with this printer to get the support settings right such that they expose for long enough and don't die off into a whispy tendril mid print. If anyone has experience with the Phrozen Sonic 4k and M70 High Precision resin, let me know!
Lastly, I had my sculptor create some sexy renders of the wood elf squad. The keen viewer might notice that the original ranger has had his head swapped out for a new one.
This is the new face.
This is the old face. While Ben was painting the Witch, we also discovered some details that made it not so fun to paint and we had them fixed up as well! All in all, I'm very happy with this slow and deliberate process we're taking with these models to get them to the quality they are. I hope it makes for some excellent minis to paint. That's all for now! PAINT MORE MINIS!
