What up, mini family?! I hope you all have found some time to hobby in this impending holiday season. This past week I had some friends over and we had two goals. We wanted to play Warhammer Underworlds: Beastgrave. They were both excited to learn a miniature war game and dip their toes into the process of the hobby. The warbands we picked were Molog's Mob, Mogweath's Blade Coven, and Skaeth's Wild Hunt. I'll let you guess which one I picked up!

We had a ton of fun playing. We even stopped by my LGS to pick up the special dice and sleeves for our respective warbands. In total, we played 4 games only 1 of which I won, haha. I have a lot of thoughts about Underworlds that I'll share on an upcoming episode of the podcast, Trapped Under Plastic. Other than playing Warhammer Underworlds, I wanted to shoot a video with my two friends. The premise was that I was going to loosely teach them the whole process in the hobby (clip, clean, assemble, gap fill, choose scheme, paint, base), and they would ask me questions in the process. I figure that this video has value because beginners ask questions that sometimes I don't think to answer. Also, this is the first tyranid I've ever painted, so there's that!

Multicamera shoots w/o scripts and only a loose direction are tough. There's a lot to rig up and remember to do, and editing it typically difficult. Sometimes things fall through the cracks. Unfortunately in this video, my audio isn't the greatest. I was using a new LAV mic, and the input was set too low and I wasn't recording to an isolated track so I couldn't independently raise the gain on the recording w/o also raising the volume of the other mics which were recorded at the correct gain. Oh well, learned something new about my recorder!

At the end of it all, we finished with some firecracker lookin' tyranids that Curtis (the guy who owns these models) was very happy with. Both of my friends were very enthusiastic about the process and one of them painted by himself for 5 hours straight one of the nights. It always feels so great to share a long term hobby with long term friends and to have them receive it so great.

But what about wood elves?? As you may or may not know, I am in the process of producing 3 wood elf models. The concept art is done, but only 1/3 is 3D sculpted. While the other 2 are getting sculpted, I decided to get the ball rolling on other things I need done, one of which is a fun sticker to put inside each box. I discovered an artist on instagram (@art.pepi) who draws in a wonderfully whimsical way. She created a couple renditions of the wood elves that I'll use as the stickers.

That's all for now! PAINT MORE MINIS!

Wish this episode existed 2 months ago when I got started with minis. You've helped me so much on my new journey into mini painting. Keep it going strong Scott!
