New T-shirt, Paintin' Minis, and More! BTS #82 (Patreon)
Content
Hey mini family! I've been working on a few things lately, kind of all over the place. Earlier in the week, I started to paint this guy.
The idea here is to forgo the usage of color and paint something monochromatically. This model is an exercise in finish and texture. Often times as miniature painters we paint something like wood brown and that's good enough without also considering the texture of wood, or anything else, so what happens when we remove the "crutch" of color? I am hoping to explore this idea in an upcoming video. This video will be sponsored by some of my favorite manufacturers, Terrible Kids Stuff, but their Kickstarter is getting delayed a lot and bouncing around. I thought we had pinned down a date but it moved again so I have this model on standby until I know the actual date range and in the meantime, am working on a different video.
I am working on another basing video! I love my little collection of bases I have amassing and I love this video format. It should be out sometime tomorrow for you to see early but the video itself will come out on Black Friday because I'll be running a Black Friday sale. Everything on my webstore will be 20% off, and this will be the first time The Duchess and the digital course for her will be on sale ever, so get the deal while it's steamy and hot (on black friday). Related to Black Friday, I also have a new T-shirt design coming out.
The concept here is that the golem is a metaphor for your backlog that you're constantly fighting against. I hope you like it! Lastly, I finally shipped of the Renegade Knight commission to its owner. I used Kaizen foam to create a shell for the parts to sit in so it didn't move at all.
Luckily it arrived at the owner's house and was unscathed. Yay! After finishing that Cult of Paint sponsorship and shipping this model off, I truly have 0 paid painting obligations anymore, and I feel great!
That's all for now, PAINT MORE MINIS!
