What up mini family!

It's Friday...I was supposed to publish this on Wednesday...where has this week gone?? Well, let's start in chronological order starting with the vampire!

The details are starting to come together! It's looking more and more like the concept with every passing week. At this point in the sculpting, Ali asked me to define the "cut lines", which at first I was a little confused about. Miniatures often times come in pieces, and the reason they come in pieces is because each individual part is easy to cast. Trying to cast this vampire as a single piece would result in a lot of errors (voids, frail parts, etc.) so we break it up to make sure each part is good! The only problem was...I had no idea how to define the cutlines and I felt like someone with expertise should do it. So, I sent over the .stl to 2 companies that I was working with: Big Child Creative and Creature Caster. Big child fired back with a cut diagram.

20 pieces?! WhAaat?! OK, to defend Big Child, if the 3D model stayed exactly as is, this is probably how many pieces my miniature would need to be, but Peter, the CEO of Creature Caster said it best "this miniature is needlessly complicated". He said he would be able to simplify the 3D sculpt so that it would be easier to cast and so that the overall aesthetic would not change at all. He also offered me the most competitive price/mini for casting, so I'll probably end up going with Creature Caster for casting, which is very exciting because all their stuff is great, and Peter is also a great person to deal with. So here's my tentative plan: Ali finishes up the 3D sculpt as is, Pete simplifies it, someone prints it (not sure if CC can do this), and CC casts it! I'm very excited and happy this is becoming a reality!

Alright, what else did I do? Well, I scripted and shot 3 videos, one of which is fully done and up for early release. The three videos were Homecoming Part 7, Everything I Learned from Competing in Crystal Brush, and Miniature Painting Vocabulary. I don't want to spoil too much about the content of the videos, but I'm sure you can get the general gist based on the names. I'm batching a lot of videos up front because I have some big projects coming up that I cannot accomplish in 1 week, like painting an entire creature caster model, or converting and painting a chaos knight. I'm excited for these videos, but they will take a bit of work to finish, so I need to pad my release schedule a bit.

I also put a poll out on my youtube community based on what avenger I should paint for the release of Avengers: Endgame and the people want Thor! So, this past week I've been converting the OOP Thor model from Knight Models to look more like the movie rendition. Hopefully it turns out! That's all for now!

PAINT MORE MINIS!

Getting a glimpse into the process of putting together a miniature is really interesting. Thanks for the peek behind the scenes of that process, Scott.

Man, I'm so excited that you're working with Creature Caster for this. I was SO tempted at A-con to pick up one of their bloodthirster proxies. Gorgeous sculpts and high quality!
