Sorry for being a day late! This entire week I was in New York City, but I still managed to do some youtube stuff that was particularly mad scientist like.

I'm testing thinners for metals, as you guys know, and the most important test is how well the paint flows off of the brush while not effecting opacity the most. This is kind of hard to do in a repeatable way so I had to come up with something. I came up with this brush sled thing that holds the brush at a specific distance from the board, and I can move the sled up and down the piece of styrene at that same distance until I run out out of paint. So that solved the equal pressure issue I was facing.

The other issue is how to make sure I use the same amount of paint in the bristles each time. What I did to solve this lots and lots of pipettes. I mixed a 5:5 solution of thinner:metallic color and then placed one droplet on the styrene and then ran the brush sled through the droplet and that was how I deposited paint onto the brush.

I'm rushing to finish this video for Friday, it'll be a close one. This weekend I'm heading out to Wisconsin to paint with Sam Lenz and Tom Ales so I won't have much time to work on videos then either. This is pretty typical for summers in Minnesota, but it's making video editing tough!
