Excellent! If anyone intends to use an airbrush quite a bit, save yourself some heartache and buy a sonic cleaner and get some Simple Green. You'll thank yourself. Also, I have a 5 gallon bucket I keep at my feet when airbrushing to dump paint into, spray out stuff and clean.

So the bucket is for cleaning out the airbrush? Do you use the SG in the Sonic cleaner?

Anonymous

Yes. I use about a 50/50 mix. I clean by hand until I'm done using the airbrush, then I break it down, put it in the sonic cleaner and run for about 10-15 minutes.

Sorry, maybe I'm not being clear enough. I use the SG in the sonic cleaner only. I use alcohol and water when cleaning in between paints with the bucket.

One more thing and I'll shut up. I went and bought two .99 cent ketchup/mustard type plastic bottles with the little plastic cap like you'd see at restaurants. I keep water in one and alcohol in the other. Great for cleaning.

A lot of people criticize Sonic cleaners for being too harsh. In fact, Ken Schoefeldt (owner of Badger) says that they are too harsh on the non-metal components inside an airbrush and over s few cleaning sessions can actually lead to you needing to repair the airbrush. What are your thoughts on this? Do you circumvent this by only putting metal parts in?

Thanks Scott! Having recently picked up an airbrush and compressor, I have been looking for some of the basics as applicable to model painting.
