Thoughts and Notes -Condom Gagging Sequence (Patreon)

So the sequence, from concept to completion took about 23 days! Could have been faster probably but the holidays were there too so :P

SO lets get into the grit:

Sequence started life as a very horny set of 4 thumbnails. The first image didn't even EXIST yet conceptually, and was added later to kinda give a little more context to the set. The composition from thumbnail to complete drawing was largely unchanged, mostly because I think I got it right from the get-go. I ended up scrapping another thumbnail of the condom popping, one of her drinking the contents, and another of her using the filled condom to aid in a titfuck. Just too much of a leap it felt like, but who knows! Maybe those concepts will return at a later date <3

THE HAIR

As I refined the sketch I completely neglected to add further detail to the hair. This came back to bite me later when I just,,, did the linework with the same under-defined hair silhouette. Thanks to my partner though, I was able to spot it before moving on to color.

Her hair still isn't exactly where I want it to be. I've done a few studies on the past of how to draw hair, but it always feels like a lot of effort, more than I'm willing to put in it seems. In the final sequence, her hair is very cartoony, which I think is fine but not perfect. It keeps the focus on the sexy-sex, but I think it diminishes the "omg she's so pretty" factor significantly. The next few images I do, I will focus more intently on the hair.

Shading and Highlight

Gah, this is an area where I feel like I really could have done way better, but I'm also like,,, SUPER happy with how it came out.

For ONCE, I used multiple layers for the shading and highlighting, so I could control how dark certain parts were a little more granularly. I went through with a general shadow, not very detailed, then on another layer added the core shadows, occlusion and things like this. In the end the result is very far from reality, but its dynamic and makes me happy. It also thankfully didn't take a million years.

There are some issues with like, some shadows not making sense for where the light is coming from, but idk I think its fine lol

LINEWORK

Something I was super proud of this set was the linework. I am just very happy with how it all turned out. I am ESPECIALLY glad I came up with a new technique to visually prioritize certain parts of the drawing. Below are two caps, first one without this technique and the second with.

Basically I'm forcing some of the lines to take on the color of the shape they're bounding, which sorta makes them fall into the background a bit. It's subtle, but the final drawings without this change are drastically different and more difficult to read. This technique is very quick and easy, and has a MASSIVE pay off, so I will be using and expanding it in the future.

A few other things...

I added a blue tint to the rim lighting starting on image 3 and I wish I had done that with the first two, because it is predty.

I wrestled with the steam/smell effects for ages. It took me HOURS and I'm still unsatisfied with how it turned out. It's the reason I posted the with/without smelle versions, just in case the steam was THAT terrible. I'll have to do some more studies on this moving forward.

The collar was a later addition, and I love it so much I think I might make it cannon to her design.

I forgot her nipple on 3 out of 5 of the images and didn't even notice LMAO. Special thanks to a certain Lugia who was very helpful in pointing that out.
