Officer Zero (Emma Gunn Reboot) Intro (Patreon)

To be read top to bottom (I perhaps struggled to make it obvious on some pages)

I wanted to make something more out of Emma Gunn from early on when I accepted that as a character and story she/it just wasn't catching on so I decided to bring things closer to home. I mean that both in the sense of liquid latex/shapeshifting as a usual cornerstone of my work and in terms of "writing what you know".

This is conceptually set in the fictional, occasionally mooted future "Super City" in the North of England (my home) made up of Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Bradford and Hull besides other smaller towns in between; I went with "New North City" as a neutral, agreeable kind of name to try and express that the place in question is indeed 80 miles wide and 30 miles tall, filled to the brim with people and corruption.

I thought long and hard, designed and redesigned until I slowly reached this point which I'm happy with for a stepping-on point. I feel equally motivated to create my own stories and characters the way I want them rather than trying to make something out of what I often consider wasted potential elsewhere and this is where that has led me.

I hope you enjoy this and I apologise if I seem more restrained than usual, but with the things going on right now that's difficult. My thoughts and feelings go out to everyone suffering in the disgusting situation in the Ukraine, whether my patrons are affected or like myself you have friends who are; I hope this passes quickly I we can reach a better place.
