Patreon News

The $1 tier will be removed in April and all the benefits from that tier will bump forward into the $3 tier.  Do not worry if you are already on tier 1 as you can keep that as long as you want. You just will not be able to sign up at that level again in the future.  This is on the advice of patreon, as after fees and taxes the $1 tier is just not worth keeping.

The Skywalker patrons this month will receive a gift in the mail if they wish it.  I have had some keyring bottle openers made in aluminium.  They have the andyisyoda logo on them and are exclusive to the Skywalker rank this month. If you upgrade or sign up as a Skywalker you can have it shipped! Shipping will be on or around March 13th. You only have one more day to get this offer!

Inspiring Build of the Month

Well I was trying to build in a Japanese style on my live stream yesterday... It did not go so well! It turns out to be a really difficult style to build in. I guess I just need to practise this style and try to be better in it. DieEneRuben invited me onto his server to see what he had been building in this style. I was amazed and stunned by what he had made! I find this style very hard to build in and was looking for some tips to bring you.

Ruben's first tip was to build the roofs - that way you can determine the size of the build underneath and keep the whole construction in proportion.

Then of course Ruben makes something out of this world! But if we look more closely:

We can see that the builds underneath should not be too difficult. Red terracotta works well here with an inner texture of white wool and dark oak fences. Doing the roofs first with this complicated build meant that the buildings underneath combined well. Ruben would recommend building from the bottom up if you are just doing one house.

Thanks to all the patrons who have been helping me on recent builds. It is very much appreciated indeed.  The survival server is now open to the public - please let me know how this is going. The city map has taken a back seat for me personally this year but I hope people are still enjoying building in it.  I hope to do more streams from the city as there are still some good builds to bring over from our old flat map and plenty scope for new builds. I might be starting a new kingdom for an epic timelapse based on an amazing hand drawn map by gamer dad on twitter ( @Treadwell_260):

The above map is what DieEneRuben has managed in only 3 hours as he makes his own attempt!

 4. Personal News

I have been to Vidcon in London. I took some footage and will finish editing it this week hopefully. That video will be for Skywalkers only. I have had a bad cold this month which meant I lost about a week of working time. Very annoying but I guess illness is part of life. I will be teaching another woodland survival course this weekend. Look out on instagram for some pictures from the course. If you would like to come on a survival course in England with me this year let me know as I can get you a discount!

Thanks again for being a Patron. It means so much to me as it means I can stay a full time content creator - and that means I can continue to build with you to make a video that will be on YouTube for ever. Even if you are not building with me you are inspiring me and helping me with ideas. Just think - your input and help means that these videos will inspire millions of people for years and years to come. You can even show your grandchildren what you were part of way back in 2020!! Actually some of you already have grandchildren!

Do follow me on twitch as I am live every weekday at 8pm uk time and at 4pm at weekends. You can interact and suggest things for the builds. If you have a youtube channel that needs a shoutout then just ask in the livestream. http://twitch.tv/andyisyoda

Have a great March!!

Andy.

The city map looks amazing. I teach map illustration online to K-12 kids and love it. My mom raised me on National Geographic and that was always my favorite part. ha I've got my own series I'm working on for a couple writing projects. I just started on the one for my novel in World Painter (I've got a lot to learn there ha) and am about to install World Edit. So excited. Looking forward to sharing it with you. Be well, stay safe.
