 Inspiring Build of the Month:

This is the inspiring build of the month and it is built by DaBloxBoys who plays on the Builders’ Refuge server. He is 17 from the United States and has been building in Minecraft for about 5 years. I was really struck by his amazing attention to detail and the overall shape of the ship which you can see in this overhead shot:

This battle ship is a ‘freebuild’ which is very impressive as that means he made up the whole thing from his brain and did not use any reference pictures which you normally do when recreating a real ship.

DaBloxBoys got started building ships in Minecraft after playing Assassins’ Creed in which there featured some 18th century war ships. He recreated one of them and then moved on to other boats and ships. In fact, he specializes in vehicles and can build large or small.

Here you can see one of his 18th century ships:

I asked DaBloxBoys for his top 2 tips for boat and ship building in Minecraft:

1. It’s always good to start with the waterline so you get an understanding for the length and width of the ship.

2. The shape of the hull for more modern ships will generally be a lot less round than those of older wooden ships.

3. Adding rigging to your ships (the lines/ropes that support the masts) really adds a greater level of detail. This applies mostly to sail ships and WWI-WWII era warships.

Here is one more amazing ship he built:

What I have been doing in real life:

As usual I have been running the office for the survival company I work for but also teaching some survival courses. The highlight was the Young Survivors course in Yorkshire. We had 12 young people aged 7 – 13 and their parents/guardians/aunties! They had a great time building shelters, lighting fires, signalling for rescue, making water safer to drink and much more! The weather was good and we even played a game of man hunt in the woodland which was very tricky as there were lots of ferns and bushes to hide behind. All the adults had to try to hunt the Young Survivors as it got dark in the forest and it ended up quick spooky in the end! I have also been going for some cycles – enjoying the last of the summer while it lasts!

  Some more inspiring builds:

This scary clowns build is by @duwhorainson.

The above sci-fi vehicle builds are by AdventuringTom, Vluxr, TurntechTIm, Taurus, Ggolem1, OnlyOneDan, Admiral_Prophet, FifinoD and DaBloxBoys.

As ever thanks so much for your support! It means the absolute world to me and means I can keep on making minecraft videos.  This month I am going to be trying out Bedrock Edition and even playing some adventure maps as well as my normal builds.

Thanks again and May the Blocks be With You!
