Hump Day Update! (Patreon)

Good morning, afternoon, evening (wherever you are in the world)!

Time for a quick update on the status of Serenity and its progress. As you all may know by now, there was a bit of drama after my first release. I almost let it get to me. In an effort to keep more fans happy I did make a slight change and reuploaded (version .02b). So if you weren't happy with something before, there is a chance you might be now. With that said, I won't be doing that again. It nearly derailed my plans for how this story will unfold. I have enough complicated scenes and graphics issues I need to deal with to fit Serenity to have to worry about things like this. I was warned by partner devs out there about that situation and I fell into it anyway. Never again. Now, on with the fuckin' show...

This morning I finished the writing and converting of days 3 and 4 in-game. When I say 'converting', I mean converting my original story (written in Word) into something that works as an AVN. And that means today, I have officially started rendering days 3 and 4! I always get excited at this part. It's much harder than writing but I so enjoy trying to get a scene to look the way I imagined it when I wrote it; the best part of doing this!

These scenes are going to take more time to get right though. Details are important to me... fingers touching what they're wrapped around... eyes looking where they should be, as little clipping as possible... Every tiny detail I have to zoom into and fix, I will because I want it to be right. Also, I can't promise anything yet, but I'm going to try to get at least one animation in this one. Baby steps... but if I am not happy with the way it looks, it won't go into the game. Animations are a big deal in these things and I agree with that. Some might say I should have waited until I learned those. I disagree with that notion. There are tons of great AVN's out there that have no animations at all.

I also would like to comment on something that was brought up (during all that drama): Choices. There are two types of choices these usually have... those that affect the ending or outcome of the story, and those that affect the immediate situation. Serenity does not have multiple endings. This is my first time making one of these so the choices in Serenity are of the "immediate situation" type. I'll try to add more of these choices in the future, but understand that this is a VN. Once Serenity is finished and I've gained that experience, the next project may be different. So, bear with me and just enjoy the story I am telling.

Finally, (maybe a small spoiler here)... version .03 will bring in a new character. Her part is a cameo for now. But if enough people wish it, I may consider fitting her into the story later. It would require some adjustments but I can pull it off. Be on the lookout for that!
