Tomorrow (January 24th 2023) I will be posting a video about the Dukono volcano in Indonesia. It is one of the 21st century’s most active volcanoes, alongside (similarly active volcanoes with constant or near constant eruptions) such as Kilauea in Hawaii, Santa Maria in Guatemala, Stromboli in Italy, and Yasur in Vanuatu. I wish to give a special thanks to the Extreme Pursuit YouTube channel for granting me permission to use his footage.

Dukono is quite a special volcano as its currently active central cone/crater may only be a few thousand years old although we are unsure. Dukono produced two voluminous viscous lava flows. One occurred in 1550 and the other in 1933. Both destroyed structures but the 1550 eruption connected two separate islands due to the large area it covered.

Any questions? And which other volcano in Indonesia do you wish for me to cover next?

Sangiang Island would be interesting.

Not a question about Indonesia but have you thought about giving a talk at AGU about running a geology YouTube channel? Yours is my go-to source - you cover great topics, are very timely on current eruptions, make everything so accessible - I could go on. The more science-focused channels the better, and the success of your channel shows you’re doing it right. Passing that expertise to others would be fantastic!
