No playable update for this month.
However, I want to show some sneak peeks of some of the things I've been working on for Nude Byte:

News-thingie

Since this game is based on Splatoon, there will also be a news-like part in the Glitch City where it tells us what maps and weapon cards the players can use.

But who will be the newscasters? I can't tell who yet. They're still not done.
However, they will be there in the battle as well.

But what role will they have in battle? Probably something useless. But I can't tell yet as well. It's not 100% done.

And this pool-looking thingie:

It's still incomplete, so this is the only camera angle I can show for now. What could it be? Again, I can't tell yet. Not until i'm done making it.

But it sure is a nice camera angle.

Those are the updates that I can show for now.
When I manage to finish and finalize them, I can show them in detail. But that may take several months.

Judging by how development is going, I think this game will take a lot of months (Or a year? Hopefully not) before I can release a proper Nude Byte that isn't a Random Run.

I'm sure there are people who are wondering: "Why is it taking so damn long?"
(Ahem) Let's sit down and let me tell you a story:

The game was originally built with online capabilities where people can share their creations online for others to see. This was the heart of the game.
It uses Gamejolt's server to make that online magic work.

But when Gamejolt decided to remove adult games, Nude Byte must be removed from Gamejolt as well. So are the online capabilities.

Ever since that happened, admittedly, the game's design became a mess.

If I knew I can't have online features from the start, I wouldn't have created the Glitch City in the first place. Its very purpose is for the online features. Without it, it's basically nothing.
But the Glitch City is there now. And I can't remove it. Everyone will be super disappointed if do that.

But what purpose will Glitch City serve if it doesn't have any online features? A whole city with no people around? Basically a large ghost town with random shops. And how is that fun?

That's when I had to rework and patch so many things to make Glitch City function as a fun feature that players will use.

Instead of characters from other players, I converted them into characters that the player can purchase and use in battle or customize.

Instead of relying on online features for players to keep playing, I had to give something that will motivate players instead. This is usually a story from a single-player campaign.

So I tried giving it a story. But I know I have my limits when it comes to development, and I know I can't work on something that's too huge.
And the story became too huge. I didn't go for it.

So I replanned again and tried adding story to NPCs instead.
That one's also too huge. I didn't go for it as well. Too much work. I tried.

For the 3rd plan, it's not a story anymore. But I made something that I'm much more confident with!
I think it will be fun, and I know it doesn't require too much work.
(But I can't tell what it is yet. Again, it's not yet done.)

Because of this new plan, many features will be changed and added in Glitch City.
The things you've seen from my past updates are the product of this:
Guards, Card Mixing, Voices, Dildos, and now the News and the Pool thingie.

But looking at the overall development, I can tell that the game became much bigger than what was originally planned.
But it's doable, fun, and I like it!

But this also means the game's development will take longer.
So while we all wait, we'll keep the fanart cards up and running!
More cards every month!

I also wanted to add extra stuff in the game, but I don't think I can work on those myself. My priority is to finish the features first before anything else.
And that's why I want to commission artists to do those extras instead.

But I can't do that without extra money.
And judging by the poll I made recently, the numbers aren't looking good.
(It's not the 78% vs 22% I'm after. It's the 78% of 300+ votes vs 1,000+ total patrons.)
Price increase is a no go. So I'll have to look for other ways to make extra money. (Probably a new Tier...)

Anyway, that's the end of my story. Thank you for reading!

I better go back to coding again.
(The next item in my to-do list is... Making a sponge scrub a girl's boob. Is that weird?)

Have you ever considered Steam as a gaming platform? It might have certain costs to publish content but it does allow adult content.

I've always considered. Unfortunately, my problem will be copyright. And all my fanart cards are surely copyrighted. If I plan to bring Nude Byte to Steam, I will have to replace all fanart cards into original artworks. And to do that, I will need to commission a lot of artists to be able to replace them so it won't take another year.

A third tier does sound like it would help, while still letting others who can't afford an up shift in tier prices, still provide support as they have. Along with others here I'd happily upgrade. Also a very nice look behind the scenes and a bit of catch up for newer supporters who didn't know about the Gamejolt issues.
