"Saddle up, ye load 'o sissy girls! There's work ta be done!"

-Gytha Gloryhammer, Champion of the Frost Queen

Across icy peaks and through ancient fortress-holds, the magnai people known as the Frostforge Reclaimers wage a never-ending campaign to retake the ancient lands of their ancestors. Scorned by many of their race, they reject any notions of shame for their chosen path, proving their worth in battle with every enemy of their people brought low and every lost glory recaptured. Fearless and proud, they march into battle bellowing fierce war cries and oaths of doom and war, their onslaught as unstoppable and all-consuming as an avalanche.

The frontline warriors of the Frostforge are the Battle-Damsels, battle-hardened magnai who have proven themselves in combat against the many enemies of their people. Women all, their warrior culture is still in its infancy in comparison to their race's other long-held traditions, and so each Battle-Damsel burns with the desire to prove themselves and their way of life is worthy and righteous.

Despite their passion for war, the magnai of the Frostforge value their lives, as their numbers are few, and so they garb themselves in heavy armored plate and make use of thick shields to weather the attack of the enemy. They do not hurl themselves recklessly into battle, as do the madwomen of the Wydowslayer temple, but instead march steadfastly forwards in formation, each warrior trusting in their own skill and that of their sisters, an unstoppable force made of many elements working in unison. Their march is slow at first, allowing the enemy to break upon their shields and armor, and then they put their finely forged weapons to work, shattering the enemy ranks and finally overrunning them, burying the foe like the gradual but inevitable falling snow.

Magnai by and large distrust the use of animal mounts, preferring to keep their feet planted firmly on their ground rather than sticking a lot of extra feet in between them. But the magnai of the Frostforge are nothing if not ones to buck tradition, and Shield-Maidens have taken to training the native yaks of their mountain holds to carry them into battle. Enormously muscled, temperamental, and difficult to steer once they've built up momentum, these trained battle yaks make ideal cavalry for Frostforge assaults, barreling down mountainsides like living avalanches and trampling the foe to oblivion. The blacksmiths of the Reclaimers have even begun to turn out armor for their sisters' mounts, each striving to outdo their rivals in imposing yet practical armored battle yak outfitting.

Male magnai are uncommon among the Frostforge, and are considered too valuable to take part in battle. Most therefore take up the role of Forgebrother, the blacksmiths and armorers of the Reclaimers, crafting weapons and armor for their battle sisters. Through ancient and once-forbidden arts, the master-smiths of the Frostforge can infuse elemental power into the weapons they craft, causing their blades to cut with freezing magical cold.

In the ages after the fall of the eldarchf from their golden age heights, the magnai rose to prominence. Over the course of millennia they built a grand civilization that stretched across the world, with countless subterranean strongholds built into the bones of every great mountain. Guided by rigid cultural traditions that maintained their society's prosperity, the magnai flourished. They enjoyed trade with other peaceful races, and their armies easily matched the more primitive enemies that periodically rose to challenge them.

In time, however, many enemies appeared in the world that the magnai could not match, even at their height. The war-hordes of the krog, the skitterkin and other beastfolk, the undying Dynasty of Nul from the far north, the vile treasure-hungry wyrmspawn from the dark depths beneath the world, and other monstrous species appeared rapidly in comparison to the slow-living magnai empire. Great periods of prolonged war sapped the resources of their civilization, and many clan-holds were left to fend for themselves, unable to receive support.

The Frostforge was one such clan, and with their army ranks depleted by many battles, the latest incursion by a war-horde of the krog threatened to finally destroy them. The Frostforge clan-rulers were forced to make a momentous decision: breaking with long-held cultural traditions of gender division, they allowed women to join the army. This surge of fresh recruits enabled the Frostforge to turn the tide of battle engulfing their ancestral lands and drive off the invading krog. However, the act of departing from millennia old traditions earned them the enmity of many other magnai clans, who claimed that the desecration of their cultural identity would do more damage than any invading army. Still, there were small numbers of magnai throughout the empire who supported the actions of the Frostforge clan, and declared that any tradition which would serve to hobble their race should rightly be challenged.

In the end, the bulk of magnai clan authorities condemned the Frostforge clan's actions and demanded a show of repentance of them, while at the same time casting out from their own clans all those who had showed the Frostforge support. Outraged, the Frostforge refused to accept any shame for doing what needed to be done to ensure their clan's survival. The Frostforge severed ties with the rest of magnai society, accepting the exiles and outcasts from other clans into their ranks, and set out to build a new cultural identity for themselves.

The Frostforge declared that they would begin a grand campaign to retake the ancestral territories of the magnai people that had been lost in the long ages of war, scouring ancient holds and fortress-keeps occupied by krog, skitterkin, and other monstrous enemies. They would allow nothing to hold back their progress, they would do new things in new and interesting ways, and in so doing would find greater strength and enjoy greater success than the hidebound traditionalists that would condemn them. They would reap the rewards of their great reclamation, and prove their righteousness beyond all denial.

The clan of the Frostforge is on the rise, with a world of glory waiting to be reclaimed.

Mini Manatee

Agreed! love the Warcraft inspired designs - also just love those beasts, got to work out how to get an ogre to sit on one of them to be used as mournfang cavalry or a stonehorn for AoS

Woelore

Any chance of having a fur infill piece for the yaks so we can model them bareback without a rider as well? It could be a mod of the saddle. Would be ok to be an update later. Also ok if it requires user to trim out the cinch buckle on the front half of the yak.
