Hey friends,

Hope we've all had a great week. A little late with this, but still calling it the Wednesday weigh-in because, well, alliteration. And maybe it is still Wednesday for one or two of you.

The reason for the delay is that I caught up with an old uni friend yesterday evening. (Gosh, where have the years gone?!) It was the first time we'd seen each other in over five years, but didn't feel like it. We ended up sitting and chatting for much longer than intended. All the memories flooding in, a mix of nostalgia with a hint of melancholy at how old we're getting!

But mostly just great memories - many of which will help with my Amelia origin story, but our chat triggered a few more in my head too, which I'll share in the form of real-life vignettes, a bit like these ones from a few years ago.

I was hoping to have one ready for this post, but it's ended up taking a bit longer than I expected to write. So instead, here's a snippet of the finished colour pic of Amelia by Pinupmeister, extended to introduce Irene, a door-banging nicotine-patched scourge of a caterer who will be Amelia's nemesis in her time at uni.

Has our manipulative Queen Bee finally met her match, or will it be last orders for the dinner lady? We'll find out soon.

What I've been working on
Other than the above stories, I've been creating the second entry in my Best Jobs for FAs series, which should be out this weekend. This one will feature Sarah, and I'm really keen to do her justice in this pic, as I feel some previous pics have fallen short of fully capturing her personality. I won't reveal what the "job" is, but suffice to say, Sarah isn't the one doing it. Nor is she particularly happy about the way it's being done!

I managed to get my entry for the Week 5 writing  prompt complete in time. It's called The Fallen Idol, and features a certain archaeologist of ample, er, renown. The prompt word was artifact. I'm fairly happy with how this one turned out, and doing the weekly prompts is a great exercise in overcoming procrastination.

I'm determined to make February the month in which I catch up on commissions and rewards. These include all the rewards for this competition I ran last year, which I still haven't gotten around to. 😬 So all those who commented there at the time will be contacted in the next week or so regarding their free pic/story!

There's also a long-delayed commission for KewlKidz, and a tribute pic of Mollycoddles' Alice, to go with the pics of Laurie and Jen.

As always, work continues on The lady wot lunched. I'm getting there, I promise! 😊

All the best,

Hal
