I'm finally done! I am so happy to bring to you Healthcare Redux Modular. There are so many changes I decided to make this it's own post. The original mod description will always be here

Changelog

Modular system (pick and choose your features), new deaths, improved appointment/doctor system, more insurance options, better compatibility, and tons of bugfixes and improvements.

Please note: there is now only a single version but it should be tweaked to be usable by all those who play regular lifespans, long lifespans, and rotationally!

New Deaths

You asked and I have delivered. There is a rare chance that your sims can die from:

  • Allergic Shock (Anaphylaxis) after being stung by a bee if they are allergic
  • Postpartum Hemorrhage after giving birth
  • Sepsis during surgery if your sim has Appendicitis

Insurance Changes

It seems not everyone wants an unfair and bureaucratic insurance system like the one in America. What?! I made some changes and additions to the insurance feature. There's now an option in the Healthcare Services phone menu to choose and review insurance plans.

When you load the mod, as before, in a household where at least one sim has a career, the family will have health insurance. What kind depends as there are now four insurance plans. Sims can also opt out of insurance and choose to pay their bills. Sims who lose their job have 36 hours to find a new one before they loose their coverage. When sims join a new job they will get the best insurance available to their household.

Free Universal Insurance

Universal Healthcare Insurance will cover all medical expenses, with the exception of medications on which there is a small discount. This health insurance will not expire when a sim looses their job. It can only be removed by opting out of insurance or choosing another plan.

Basic Insurance

This will be a good insurance but not the best. All careers who do not automatically get the other insurances will have basic insurance, including freelancers and business owners. You can stick with your basic insurance or you can upgrade to premium insurance.

Premium Insurance

So-called white collar jobs will start off with this insurance. Those with basic insurance can upgrade to premium insurance. Those with premium insurance can save some money by downgrading to basic insurance. Premium insurance costs more but appointments and hospital visits cost less as do medications.

Automatic Premium Insurance Careers: Doctor, Lawyer, Business, Salaryperson, Education

Public Servant/Government Insurance

Like in life, government workers get separate and generally good insurance rates (better than basic and premium) but you have to work in one of those jobs, you can't opt into it. This insurance offers the best rates on appointments, hospital costs, and medications.

Government Insurance Careers: Military, Activist, Secret Agent, Detective, Astronaut, Civil Designer

Better Compatibility

Discover University and Snowy Escape are no longer required or needed. The mod has additional compatibility with Kuttoe's Lifetime Quirks. There's also been a lot of file cleanup to help make the mod smaller and run better. Healthcare Redux is compatible with my GTW Health Overhaul but if they are both installed, HCR will take over for all addon modules. You cannot mix and match modules. I might rethink that in the future but that's what makes the most sense right now.

Other Mod Changes

  • Malaria is no longer a deadly disease. It has been replaced by bacterial Meningitis.
  • Disease prevalence has been tweaked to be more consistent with game timings so your sims will get sick less often and there's a longer temporary immunity between illnesses
  • NPCs will not be roaming the world sick with illnesses unless your sims pass it on to them.
  • All illnesses have three stages of their illness. Each stage will each have a corresponding buff that will tell you what they are from. This is only available once your sim has been diagnosed.
  • Viral diseases now last for 1.5 days, bacterial diseases for 2 days, and deadly diseases for 3 days to better accommodate rotational players
  • The entire doctor visit system was completely reworked to better facilitate your sims being able to go to their doctor visits. This should be result in much better flow. There are no appointments. If your sim needs to visit a health practitioner of some kind due to something from this mod, the option will be available to them in the health services menu to go straight to the visit. If no health practitioner options are available, your sim does not have something from this mod.
  • There's no longer an option to use sick leave. If you wish to use sick leave for doctor visits or when sick from work/school, you must call in sick to work/school on the phone.
  • Your sims will no longer need Well Visits. They will only be able to visit the doctor when sick, pregnant, or need to be seen for an injury, condition, or allergy.
  • Vaccines are no longer forever. After your sim has been vaccinated, they will lose their immunization's potency after time. They will then need to be vaccinated again. Vaccination still only works against deadly diseases; they can still get other diseases.
  • Added more small cues in notifications to help distinguish the mod from other mods.
  • Added allergy shot for those who suffer from allergies
  • New natural immune system traits: Weak, Normal, and Strong Immune System traits which affect the rate at which Sims contract illnesses and the length of those illnesses.

Modular System

Healthcare Redux is now modular. You may pick and choose the systems from the mod that you want. Don't want the new illnesses? Don't download them! Want pregnancy complications only? Download the Pregnancy module. This was a big undertaking but from now on it should not only allow you to customize your saves and experiences but will also help me with updating and maintaining the system.

The system is now split into separate parts. You can pick and choose which features you want from the mod. Choose all or one.

  • Core - All parts of the mod needs the core. It is required for the rest of the mod to work
  • Allergies - If you want your sim to be able to develop allergies.
  • Conditions - If you want your sim to be able to develop chronic conditions.
  • Disease - If you want all of the new illnesses from this mod, you must install this module.
  • Death Disabler - If you do not want your active sims to die from their diseases, you can install this optional package. If you want your sims to be able to die, leave this out.
  • Injuries - If you want your sim to be able to get mild and serious injuries.
  • Pregnancy - If you want your sim to be able to attend prenatal and postpartum care, develop pregnancy complications, and have a realistic postpartum.
  • Medical Emergencies - Appendicitis, Aneurysms, Car Accident, Plane Crash, Choking, Kidney Failure, and Heart Attacks are now all covered under medical emergencies.

You need - adeepindigo_gameplaymods_HealthcareRedux_v4.7.zip from another original post and adeepindigo_base_generalpiemenus.package from this post. If you already have version 4.7, you only need to download the pie menus from this post.

Hello, this looks very interesting! Does pregnancy part work well with pandasama's realistic birth mod?

Marie Giffin

The mod links do not work

Anonymous

does the mod work with the current game? (now that there's infants and other updates)

Anonymous

is this no longer a free mod?

Anonymous

Hello. Since the private practice won’t cure my sim, what hospital will and that is compatible?

Anonymous

Hello, just wondering if i'm missing something. Most things seem to be working, however after sending 2 of my sims to the doctor (one child, one adult) i can't get them to go back for a follow up? The child has asthma and keeps getting a moodlet about something being very wrong, but the phone app option to go to doctor is greyed out?

adeepindigo

Discord is linked in the mod index but I'm not doing mod support for versions before v6

Anonymous

I am having trouble downloading the mod. When I click the link I get a 404 error message.

I can't find this, i think i'm missing a portion of the mod - i have the pie menus, medication and mood pack. Paid for membership hoping a link to the original/main mod would be available but it is nowhere to be found...

Maddie

I have Patreon and I 1 can’t access the discord it says the invite is invalid and 2 the redux mod isn’t working which seems to be a popular problem:/ what’s going on?:/

Maddie

Never mind a bad bitty found the mod🤸🏾‍♀️🌝

Maddie

I had to buy the 4 dollar pateron~ honestly it’s annoying to have to buy and spend money but there are so many more mods other than just health care redux available and I feel like it’s money well spent tbh

Maddie

Awe np!! I feel like people have been wondering about this forever , I just found out I had to buy the pateron , good luck!

also for anyone looking for the new post for patreons only its in the most recent column down the side! spent sooo long trying to find it i'm clearly stupid lol

Sad Story: My sim and her long-term high school sweethearts just graduated high school/aged up. He asked her father's hand in marriage. they had traveled to the wedding, and she died in a plane crash. :( Fun mod though I love it so much for the realism!

Hello, I'm really enjoying this mod, you did an amazing job! I was wondering whether it would be possible to add an optional file where we could choose to enable our Sims to continue having well visits every 14 or 28 days? Thanks so much!

Anonymous

Hi, I am loving this mod so much just have a question though. my adult sim has diabetes and whenever the moonlet comes up that her blood sugar is low she should use insulin, but I am unable to get a prescription for insulin because it won't let me make an appointment with the doctor. Was just wondering why that is. Thanks so much

adeepindigo

You don’t need an appt or prescription for insulin. It’s available by clicking on your sim.

Hey, Long time lover of all your mods,I've had some time away and the sims has changed massively! I have all components downloaded, pie menu, functional meds but no option to make appointments when a sim is a little off, only way I can do it is is through debug,is there a simpler way?

adeepindigo

I don't know of any way to make an appt with my mod at all even through debug. I haven't had sims make appointments since February. If they are afflicted with something from this mod, a popup asks them if they want to go to the doctor now or later shortly after they're "a little off." If you want to send them immediately they can go straight to whatever doctor is available to them.

Hi, I have download all the required documents and put them under the Mods file. However, it just can't be executed in my sims game, just like I had installed nothing. BTW my game version is 1.77. Do you have any guidline of installation for my checking ? Is there any mods that already known had conflict with this mod ?

adeepindigo

No. You have an issue with installation. It should be installed like most script mods. If you don't know how to install script mods there's info out there. You can get more help on discord.

Paris Rose

hey the schedule appointment tab doesnt come up for me

adeepindigo

there is no schedule appointments. if you need the doctor, the mod will alert you and you just go. no appointments necessary.

Anonymous

hi i’m not exactly sure if this is an issue or not but this is my first time downloading this mod, and just to clarify i did in fact download it correctly as everything is working perfectly, but my sims got a bacterial disease and she went to the general practitioner office and she has been there for now 2 sim days is that normal? i added the my sims won’t die from the disease optional script but i just want to make sure this is not a bug and she supposed to be at the general practitioners office for that long. thank you!

Anonymous

Hello! I have been using this mod for a long time and I love it but im having one issue, my sims won’t go to the doctors. My adult sim and child sim both have the something off moodlet but when I try and have them go to the specialist, they take a few steps and then the action cancels. Not sure what is stopping them

Anonymous

Hey i been using your mod forever but recently once i put this mod in none of my buffs ever show an i did the whole 50/50 yesterday to make sure an all the rest of your mods work great in game but healthcare just wont show buffs at all idk whats conflicting with the mod

adeepindigo

Have you tried vanilla save to isolate the issue to this mod? Have you done 50/50?

Anonymous

I figured out that i needed to update basemental 🤣 everything works perfectly now!

Miss Kaylee

So I downloaded the prescriptions, I have the mood pack, I have the new pie menu from this post, so I'll also need the original mod pack items for the healthcare redux? Or did I just need the pie menu aspect and it'll work? A little confused.
