Reading the details of this shameless, shameful series of abuses of law and the justice system, it really looks to me as though their decisions throughout were based solely on whether they thought some one or another or combination of illegal election-stealing tactics were going to succeed. At no point were law or facts involved. All the push to get a suit before the Supreme Court was based in their conviction that the Supreme Court would again, as they did for Bush, award the election to the Republican-- despite there being NO legal basis for such a decision, which there was, barely, when the Court stopped the Florida recount in order to prevent the actual winner from becoming President. Denying Gore his administration gave the GOP a taste of blood, and they've been busy trying to get rid of democratic elections ever since. Why bother with having to lie to voters, when you can just rot the process and put your liars into place to "announce the results"?
