UPDATE #1: If you're having issues getting the standalone version to run, try the browser version instead! It's not an ideal solution, but here's hoping it works.
UPDATE #2: v0.01 - Fixed that "Alice disappearing before talking with Fomo" bug, and implemented a better flag/trigger system for events to facilitate that.
UPDATE #3: v0.02 - Application files should be working for Mac (thanks Shirou), Linux, and Windows now! You should be able to double click the Mac binary and have it work immediately. This version also includes auto updates, which I can push out as I create new features and such (and are a much smaller download). You'll be prompted to restart when the updates are downloaded.

So...Remember that Patreon goal about making a visual novel-style game? The one we blew past and never looked back at (thank you all for the support btw ♥)? And remember how I was researching for it?
Well, I took my month off from Patreon to make one from scratch. Well, to make the building blocks of one! Using Phaser and Neutralino, I've got a standalone example of what that sort of game might be like! It's very short, and only has 3 characters at the moment, but it was a blast to work on. I learned soooo much. XD
It's got all original art just for this, and while it doesn't have an ending, it does have a few branching dialogue paths (that all lead to the same place); so you can miss dialogue, depending on how you go about things. That's why there's a "reset progress" button on the main menu. An actual full game would have a heck of a lot more, and maybe even some choices of responses to the characters, and a lot more locations and writing and actual endings and maybe music??
I'll admit, I'm pretty jazzed about how well this turned out, haha. X3 I've never made a game from scratch before, and while I was hoping to use Godot, the amount of time I had (I didn't get started till April 15th-ish) made that not super possible...So I fell back to Phaser, since I'm familiar with Javascript/Typescript, and Neutralino for standalone JS applications. Much smaller than Electron for sure, and just as functional! Thanks to Pickra for that suggestion!
In any case, lemme know what you think of this (very short) demo of what a MouseCakes Visual Novel could be. Have fun! ♥
NOTE #1: I've not tried any of the other binaries for other OS types, but they should be functional according to Neutralino documentation? Lemme know if not!
NOTE #2: Extract everything from the zip folder and run the binary for your OS!
