Enokan Announcement (Patreon)

Hey everyone! So I just want to talk about Enokan for a moment.

I'm going to stop chapter 3 where it last updated and focus on rewriting everything. This decision was really hard to settle on but I've been struggling with the writing for a long time and I feel like I need to just wipe everything clean and start fresh.

The reason why is because when Enokan started in 2016 it was an entirely different story. It was originally called Hellion and it was supposed to be a fantasy slice of life comic with a 20s/30s steampunk aesthetic. It didn't have an ending and not much of a plot at all. I eventually started changing it as I was working on it because I wanted to give it more of a story but it was a mess from the start. Even when I tried to give it more plot and an ending, it felt like it was a constant struggle to make it make sense. Like tying a bunch of frayed ends together and saying "good enough" when it still wasn't what I wanted lol

Even now, we're on chapter 3 and it's still hard to say what the heck is going on. Everything's too vague, there's no clear point or direction. It's not bad but it's definitely a culmination of all these years of me trying to make sense of what I wrote *then* to what I've written *now*

I've already taken some time to rewrite everything to make it exactly how I want it, beginning, middle and end. There are some differences but what I've rewritten so far is the same story but Better. More happens in the first chapter of this rewrite than the three chapters we're already currently in. I'm so much happier with it and I just want to restart and go with this fresh script.

Letting myself just... stop and start fresh feels like a huge weight has lifted off my shoulders. My only worry is how all of you will feel about it. I'm not only doing this for myself but I just want to make a better story for all of you to enjoy. I know I cant please everyone but I feel like it's more fair to you and myself to let this happen rather than force myself to continue struggling over the current script and giving you all a comic to read that I'm not 100% happy with.

So with all that said, I'm going to take the rest of this month off to prepare to restart from chapter one. My goal is to have it start updating in November again so this will only be a short break~ In the meantime, Black Salt Asphalt will continue updating. I'm also poking at this other Harpy AU comic that I want to start as soon as I can but I'm still working on conceptualizing it for now~ (here are some concept sketches I have so far! [link]  [link])

I know some of you are here purely for Enokan and I just want to apologize for there being no Enokan updates for this month. The comic is not going away, it will be back soon but it will be starting over. If you pledged for October with expectations that there will be Enokan updates this month and you're disappointed, I completely understand. If you choose to unsubscribe, feel free to DM me and we can discuss a refund for this month.

This was a very difficult decision to make but I feel more motivated than ever to get to tell the story that I want to tell. I'm a little scared to see what the response to this will be but I am so grateful for the support you all have given me and I hope that some of you are looking forward to this as much as I am! <3

EDIT: I forgot to mention that all old Enokan pages will still be here! I'm not planning on deleting anything~ I'm too sentimental to just get rid of it all, plus I put way too much time and effort into those pages. It would be a shame to just send them to the shadow realm haha;;;;

TLDR: Enokan isn't ending, I'm just restarting it with a fresh script and the new first chapter will be back in November!
