Hey folks, I thought I'd share a bit of the behind the scenes process for my work. If this is or isn't your cup of tea let me know. My laptop that I work with is getting rather old, so timelapses of the actual process are tricky, however I did the first (of several) sketches for the last Osira piece on my iPad and it has a wonderful timelapse feature.

I have a bunch of different ways of going about making my initial sketches. Sometimes I just go with imagination (the Succubi and April pieces started that way), sometimes I find a decent reference photo/s to base the idea on (the Farah and Sorceress pieces started that way), and lastly like this piece (and the Opala piece) sometimes I make a crude 3D model to to work from. They all have their advantages and disadvantages.

programs used were Magic Poser app, and Procreate. Magic Poser is NO substitute for 3D software like Blender or Daz3D with all their details, tools, and realism. However, it is cheap/free, quick, and easy to use for a rough set up which is what I wanted.  It provides me with perspective, adjustable angles, rough lighting, and rough pose.
Pros- adjustable angle, light, pose.
Cons- limited by what's available in the program, 3D poses tend to be stagnant/restricted (so try to be loose when sketching from or over one).

The actual overall process for full Osira piece went;  magic poser 3D model, rough sketch over that in Procreate to get an overall idea, another rough sketch over that in Photoshop to tighten up the idea and keep it from being stagnant, then tight lines over that to work in details, then value, then color, then rendering in all the right details, and lastly make a mess on top of that.

Enjoy, more stuff soon.
