So.. at the end of September/beginning of October I wanted to look into AI text to image stuff, to have a better understanding of what it is.

I'm going to add here a few pics I got from the midjourney free prompts and some little edits or interpretations of the resulting images I liked most.

I don't know that I have much to say on the matter at the moment.

I think the blatant disrespect is what gets to me the most. Had this been opt in, artists in general wouldn't be so angry, still a little worried maybe, but not angry, and SO MANY would be happy to add their work for training and adopt the technology in their work. And it's frustrating when you see how they are too scared to do the same with music and paint it as wanting to be respectful...

So yeah.. what a shame because the technology, results and use cases are interesting, but it should've been handled better. It's tricky because of course it's not going away, so hopefully there's improvements to the transparency and regulations of this. Lmao, this coming from a fanartist... I don't know... It's weird and I don't fully understand all this. Also image search results were already butchered by Pinterest, I worry that now AI art will butcher them further.

But anyway, enough AI rambling, those are the pics "10-05a". The last 3 are ideas on how to combine symbols for quadrant tattoos for a fantroll.

The next few pics [starting with 10-06a, 10-06b, 10-21a]
Are Skullgirls fanart of some of my favorite fighters from the game! Robo-Fortune, Painwheel and Beowulf are my favorites, I'm adding Eliza because while I don't like playing with her as much... maybe it's a matter of practice and getting better moves [I've been playing the mobile game] I LOVE her design and attitude so so much!! Annie is the opposite of Eliza, I really like playing as her but I don't really feel like drawing her.

[10-11a1] was what inspired the drawings at the beginning of the update video. But originally they were just unrelated notes on ideas for a little animation with my golden monkey character.

[10-21b1 jpg&png, 10-30a_torso] Were notes related to the 3D model. I think I cut it from the video, but it's basically notes on the shapes for the controls, as well as some movements I want to add to some controls. The last sketches are of torsos because I was trying to figure out what I didn't like about Tekki's torso and the way it rotates... I'm still not so sure how to fix it, might be a matter of experimenting, trial and error.

[10-25a1] Ivie! I keep wanting to draw this gal, I've mentioned it before but she is a homestuck fanOC, Iggy's older sister. She's a sort of celebrity. Oh and she has a standard sized poodle named Apollo.

And that's it for this month! Few but I hope the colored pics make up for it a bit! Do you guys like Skullgirls? And if you do, which are your favorite fighters? Would you be interested in seeing more art of them?

Late late late, but finally coming around, let's see let's see... Regarding the AI art things, I definitely...am uncomfortable with most of the cloud/internet ones, because no one opted into them. On the other hand, I am trying to experiment with the ones you can run on your own computer, because I can use things I own/bought/etc. are just have it for personal use. An experiment I'm trying (and failing) to run, for instance, is having it take all my commissioned art of a given character, and then like...average it together. Like, take what all the many artists I've commissioned think of Alana, and then give me a composite. I'm interested in what details make it, and which don't, that kind of thing. That's just for personal interest though, obviously wouldn't claim it as mine, I didn't do anything (except bang my head against the wall in frustration trying to make these machine learning programs work). One take I've seen with the AI art that _could_ be interesting is if an artist fed a local version all of their own art, and then were able to use it as a tool to help in the creation process. Like, could be used for ideas, or maybe to help with coloring or shading (for people whose styles are very labor intensive) or that kind of thing. I'm not a "real" artist, so I couldn't say if that'd actually work, or be good, but I do wish more of these tools would be helpful to people instead of taking advantage of them... Blah blah, that's bluh takes though, let's talk about the good stuff (the art!). -------- Loooooove the Skullgirls pics, even though I'm not super familiar with the characters, the poses/expressions are excellent. There's a particular expressiveness for "surprised" you do with eyes that is always fun to see. It really sells the expression to me, and both 10-06a1 and b1 have it. On the other hand, 10-21a1 looks like everyone is just having a good time. >;] 10-11a1, again, love the expressions! The tail, especially, is a great detail. Reminds me of a cat I had when I was younger, very expressive tail, you could figure out a lot about his mood by the way he was moving it. XD 10-25a1 is so cuuuuuuute. I am absolutely a sucker for freckles though, so that sold me even before I absorbed the rest of the piece. It's got a very "sunshine" feel. Does she have a sunny personality, or is it just her look? I...actually kickstarted Skullgirls, but I never really got into the game, and all the characters I voted for (they let you vote for which ones would get developed into the game) all lost I think. XD (Specifically, I liked Aeon, Beatrix, D. Violet, Feng (+++), Juju (+++), Minette (++), Molly, Roxie (++), and Venus. I think _some_ of them got worked into other bits of the game, but weren't playable characters when last I checked.) Still! I wouldn't mind seeing more if you're interested!

I'm on the same camp regarding AI. I also am very curious about it and I think using it in the way you are, for personal use and experimenting with stuff you've made or bought is the way to go. It's such a bag of mixed feelings, like it's cool to think of writers being able to visualize their characters with such ease, or people having some fun seeing their DnD characters, or seeing the NPCs and monsters for their game. Or as you said artists using it to aid their creative process or automate the aspects that are not enjoyable. It's like seeing a really pretty little spark appear, but then it dies out so fast when you think of all the bad things. I hope eventually a better project emerges with an ethically gathered database. [Alana! wait... she is not the armored, winged lady is she? Could you remind me who Alana is?] ---- Haha aww, that is not something I would've thought of, about the "surprised eyes" thingy, It's makes me very happy to learn it's a detail you've noticed in my drawings and that you like! I do like those types of expressions! Also the "annoyed & tired" expressions... they are fun to draw! <3 I'm really glad you liked the skullgirls drawings, I am very happy with how they turned out and they were fun to draw as well! YEAH! 10-21a1, Everyone is definitely having a good time! Eliza has a lot of potential for being veeery mischievous, from what I can tell she's more of a villain?? but I just couldn't help the first mental imagine being her having fun with "her boys" haha. Aww <3 That is so cute! That you had such a cute expressive cat! I can imagine how much he must've communicated just with his tail! That really makes me think! I hope with animation I will be able to better showcase those types of subtle expressions, like that, like a tail moving in ways that complement or enhance an expression or dialogue. Or other more subtle little details that I might think about but are hard to express in a single drawing. 10-25a1. SAME, Freckles are SO SO CUTE. I am with you, I'm also so weak to them!! Yesss she absolutely has a sunny personality! She is very carefree and happy. It's not the right words to use but: she has the kind of lovable airhead/bimbo vibe? I really like drawing her smiling or having fun! I have this idea that I would like to animate her dancing to some music. OHH!! That is awesome that you kickstarted Skullgirls!! aaa man that sucks that the characters you wanted didn't make it [...yet?? They just released a new character this month! Maybe they'll come too] Aww, I have met Beatrix, Feng, Minette and Molly. I think I read veery little on the wiki about Aeon and Venus? immediately their designs stood out to me too but I don't really know much about them. My favorites from the ones you mentioned are Feng and Minette because I adore their designs but also I've seen more of them in little side stories. I had never seen Juju before but I love her design a lot. Yeah I don't recognize any as current playable characters either, that is such a surprise though, I had no idea so many of those were considered as potential playable characters!! I just thought they were NPCs, part of the story. That is very exciting to learn! I would like to see Feng animated, I wonder what type of fighting style Minette would have too! I'd really like to make some more Skullgirls stuff, for sure!
