Lucy & Alima (Patreon)

I finally finished this one. It's not very long, but it came with its fair share of technical challenges. I tried out some new cloth stuff, some new hair stuff, some new lighting stuff, and some character changes.
The main thing I wanted to do is see if I could construct a (mostly) full set and light it (mostly) naturally without costing too much time or fidelity. In the end I got the hang of it, but it was still an expensive process on the rendering side. It's a key part of larger scale products that demand entire scenes take place within a single set that characters interact with. In that context, you unfortunately can't just throw an HDRI behind them and call it there.
There were plenty of things I had to let go with this animation as it was just taking too much time, but I'll settle for 90% now instead of 100% never. The wrinkle maps on Lucy definitely need some tweaking. That sort of thing is hard to preview without rendering.
In other news, I'm almost done animating the Harley & Ivy animation. So far I haven't been severely affected by the pandemic. Stay safe out there folks.
