Patreon Tier Updates (Patreon)

First of all, thank you to everyone who has been a patreon of us! We couldn't do this without you and we appreciate you all!

As you might have recently heard in our bonus episode on the State of the Podcast. We are making some more changes to try and keep the podcast accessible and free to our listeners.

To help with that goal, we will soon start adding advertising to the episodes. We've done this in an ad hoc way over time, but moving forward we'll be more consistent with our strategy, allowing us to financially support the podcast in a sustainable way.

Which then leads us to the Patreon Tier changes:

Our new ad strategy also presented an opportunity to consolidate our Patreon tiers in a way we think you'll find exciting*

First, we are creating an ad-free Patreon tier for those of you who don't want to listen to the ads on our episodes.

To accommodate this new tier, we've combined our Q&A and our Homework Feedback into a larger Interactive Tier. This new structure will allow us to answer more questions, and build a larger community among our listeners.

We have also decided on a single day each month when the Q&A will take place, so you can plan ahead!

Starting September 1, our new Patreon offerings will look like this:

• $5/month: Ad-Free Tier: Access to our entire catalog of episodes—all 18 seasons— ad-free!
• $20/month: Interactive Q&A Tier: In addition to getting our catalog of episodes ad-free, access to a monthly, interactive Q&A, where your questions are answered by two of our hosts. This will happen each third Tuesdays, at 8pm EST. The hosts will rotate monthly. Bring your questions, your qualms, and your queries!
• $40/month: Interactive Q&A + Scholarship Tier: This is the same as the tier above, but with $20 going to our WX Retreat scholarship fund! Help someone access the magic of writing and community by attending one of our WX Retreats or Cruises in 2024!

What do all of these updates mean if you’re already a Patreon supporter? Good question!

If you are already on the $5 tier, you will have access to our podcast, ad-free. We would love for you to join the interactive tier for only $15 more. This will give you ad-free access and the ability to ask questions and participate in our monthly Q&A. This will be live-streamed across multiple platforms, but only our Patreon supporters will be able to ask questions! 

If you're signed up for the $15 or $25 tier right now, you will be “legacied” into our new “Interactive Q&A” tier.

We also welcome your feedback on things as we want this Patreon to be a two-way conversation. You can either DM us or make comments on this post and they will get passed on to the hosts.

*We will be making these changes as of September 1st - all benefits for August for the legacy tiers will still be in given!
