Hi everybody,

It’s not part of the story, so if you’re not interested, don’t read.

Last week, I experienced firsthand that “friends are awesome.”

For three years now, I have been working as a translation subcontractor for an Israeli start-up company for Internet advertising. Josh, a cool American guy, is in charge of all the translators.

Throughout my time working with them, Josh and I developed a close and friendly relationship. While we don’t socialize outside of work, whenever we talk about work, we take at least ten minutes to chat about life, family, and various topics.

Last week, he called me about a job, and in the conversation, I told him about the books I’m writing, that I’m thinking of publishing, and that I checked the prices of professional editing and got dizzy.

It turns out that Josh studied creative writing and professional editing in college in the US and even worked at it for a while, but quit because he didn’t like the pressure and working with “spoiled neurotic writers”—his words, not mine.

Then he made me an amazing offer: he would read my book, just for fun and at no cost, and if he liked the book, he would edit it, or rather send me ideas for editing; I would implement them, send him the file for final review, and he would approve.

As part of the agreement, I will provide translation services for his company without charge for the same number of hours he dedicates to editing my book.

I sent him the link to RR; he read it and liked it, and I sent him the first chapter for editing. He sent me suggestions, and I implemented them, sent them back to him for rechecking, and got approval.

Today, I posted the revised first chapter and the prologue, which he had recommended, on RR and Patreon.

Aren’t friends an amazing thing?
