Basically the way 10 shadows works is Megumi has to beat each shikigami first in order to tame it. The process for doing this is through a ritual called the subjugation ritual where he can summon the shikigami in order to fight it. He can include other people in this ritual to fight the shikigami with him, although this makes it so even if he wins he doesn't tame the shikigami. Also if there are multiple people involved in the subjugation ritual none of them can be killed fully unless all of them are killed, which is why Megumi survives getting swatted away (because Shigemo is still alive) and also why Sukuna saves Shigemo (So that Megumi doesn't die)

Regarding Shigemo's stock of miracles, the narrator says he had run out of miracles after fighting Nanami. I think the implication here is that Sukuna saving him from Mahoraga was outside of Shigemo's cursed technique. That was just pure, simple, non-cursed tech luck. I think it emphasizes how clutch Sukuna came in that moment because both Shigemo and Fushiguro would've died immediately lol.
