Really enjoy the series Jack, if you feel like it, you could watch opening 11/12/13. Some real bangers in my opinion. Glad you watch one piece and share it with us, keep it up.

luffy's voice actor is just incredible at making us feel his pain. His scream and those gargling sounds as blood drips from his mouth out of sheer emotional pain are haunting.

Why are people acting like Ace turned back after Akainu taunts and died immediately? The guy dies for Luffy, the MC with gazillion plot armor, and people act like that's not what happened. It's obv af how much Oda was not taking any chances of Ace continuing to live and stacked all odds against Ace, from before his birth, to ensure he falls here. To the people who say that all the sacrifice made at Marineford to save Ace went to waste: do you realize that everyone sacrificed for Ace and Ace sacrificed for Luffy, so all of the efforts actually went to Luffy, who is the MC and chosen one etc etc? It was never about Ace, it has always been about Luffy.

It wasn't Ace dying that was the issue for me, but I wish he had a more dignified death that wasn't his own fault. I know he had a temper and a great love for Whitebeard, but imo he was not the kind of man who would get taunted so easily by words alone. Yes, he did it to protect Luffy. But the thing is Akainu taunted Ace because Ace would have been able to escape (with Luffy). When Luffy collapsed Ace would have just grabbed him and kept running, or better yet flown into the sky. Akainu only caught up to them cause Ace stopped running, and others near him stopped with him.

Calling ace a selfish POS is a bit too far don't you think? Would a selfish POS sacrifice himself to save someone? I do agree that letting Akainu's words get to him and turning around was incredibly stupid, but there is a difference between letting your emotions get the better of you and making a mistake and being selfish. Ace was definitely not selfish. But yeah, it was stupid for him to do that and it's definitely stupid to act like it HAD to happen this way for Luffy's sake. Luffy and Ace both could have survived this if he had just kept moving. I would be able to appreciate his sacrifice a lot more if Akainu had just attacked Luffy while they were running and Ace had jumped in front, instead of him being the reason Luffy was in danger in the first place. Oda may be a master at his craft, but he is no more perfect then any other writer, so trying to twist the few mistakes he made to make them sound better is ridiculous. This was just one of the rare instances of bad writing in the show. It would have been much more impactful if Akainu had attacked directly instead of Ace being an idiot and falling for an obvious ploy.
