It's hard to be mad at Squard for what he did, I think he is clearly a good person. He is a fool for believing it, but he got set up SO HARD. Sengoku's plan was brilliant. As you can see, Akainu is a master at deception and played his part perfectly and made it sound believable. But what really convinced Squard was how the pacifistas only attacked the allies and not the WB pirates (as Sengoku ordered to sell the lie).

Btw if you go back and watch robins backstory you’ll notice the one who said to sink the civilian ship leaving O’Hara was akainu but he was just a vice admiral back then not an admiral
