In the Japanese version "peas and carrots" is "pretty peas" which makes a lot more sense. Idk why the dub changed it.

the reason why Gowasu thinks Zamasu's soul is "clear" is because a few episodes ago Gowasu saw the colour of the special tea become clear and no longer dark, Gowasu thought this meant Zamasu overcame his "confusion"/inner conflict and chose the righteous path, but instead Zamasu overcame the confusion within himself and chose the evil path instead

Gowas is for sure a dumbass. That whole thing with the Barbarians happened and he just assumes Zamas' actions were a one-off. And after that he saw that the tea went clear and thought "surely in this case his thoughts being unclouded means nothing bad, right? Surely."
