I personally love the characterization Deku gets from this episode, when questioned on his heroic idealogy and how different it is from All Might's. I think a very important distinction made with Deku's "I want to save Shigaraki" is that saving and forgiving are not mutually exclusive. Deku's already proclaimed (during the prior fight) that he'll never forgive Shigaraki and yet he wants to save him. Him considering all his prior enemies and wondering "what made them tick" is what makes him a much more nuanced hero imo.

Also yeah, it's a real shame about that shot of Deku looking over the city with the dreaded vanilla blue sky in the horizon, especially since the opening did it better and much more atmospheric.

I like the twist that One for All is strongest when wielded by someone quirk-less. In season 4 we learned that Mirio was likely going to be All Might's successor before he met Deku, and Deku felt that Mirio should have been the one to inherit One for All. But now, we see that if Mirio had inherited the power, even if he was stronger than Deku at first his body likely would have broken down rapidly from it since he already possessed a quirk. Deku really was the best choice objectively.
