Before you jump to conclusions on what Naruto was going to do, he was hyperventilating at the thought of eventually having to fight/kill his own son. Naruto wasn't going to kill Boruto right there.

Love this

I'm not sure if you watched it but there's a scene before the opening.

Through this entire episode all I wanted to do was just hug Boruto ngl, mans was so worried about everything and his impending doom and just looked so sad. That whole sequence between him and Naruto had me in tears the first time and even now I hate everything man (Also can we talk about Sarada's almost forehead tap? that was amazing lmao)

The theory that Boruto was the bad guy in ep1 and kawaki was the good guy has been going around for a while now. My personal theory is that more powerful Otsusuki are attacking and are destroying villages to get to kawaki naruto and boruto (for revenge or divine tree food) and kawaki is trying to protect boruto and naruto by trapping them in a dimension the otsusuki can't find them while taking the otsusuki on by himself. You also have boruto's scar and sasuke's headband to think about as well, so a lot of things are going to happen before we see ep1 again. I've seen some theorize boruto is being controlled by momoshiki, but i don't think momoshiki would call himself a shinobi. I think it's boruto just saying he's a shinobi and wants to fight.

I dont want to be that guy but I dont think that theory could be right. In ep 1 Kawaki says ''Age of shinobi is over'' and Boruto says ''Im still a shinobi''. I don't think Momoshiki would say that xD But hey lets be positive- if naruto could become friends with hatefull demon maybe Boruto can do the same with an Otsutsuki!

100%, Jack. Many people have said they think he was going to kill him. But if you look at how he began to pant like that, it's just like in Shippuden when he collapsed after Sakura went after Sasuke. Naruto would NEVER kill his own son, never.

As a mom, this hurts my heart in a whole other way than Kurama's death. I can't imagine being asked to stand by and let my son be killed. Poor Naruto.

The Boruto anime might be getting filler heavy from here on out. Unlike the Naruto manga that released chapters weekly, Boruto releases chapters monthly. The anime is probably gonna spend more time dragging its feet so the manga can stay ahead.

its very cool to see parallels between og naruto to now. Boruto is afraid of momoshiki taking over his body when he sleeps just like Gaara wouldn't sleep because of shukaku.

At first I thought when Naruto was hyperventilating, I thought it was his chakra disease that he would get, don’t worry about the disease it only happened in the Retsuden novels which take place a year before the Kara arc, but now I know he was just hyperventilating like when he learned about the Five Kage Summit with Sasuke

I don’t think Naruto was gonna do anything to Boruto it was more like in that second he was trying to see if he had the resolve to end Boruto if it came down to it. It was kinda like a test. At least that’s the how I Interpreted it

just to reiterate what people have said, i think the Naruto hyperventilating scene is just meant to show that yes Naruto is just a father and he cannot imagine hurting his own child. He's just feeling very conflicted and him raising his hand was for him to visually see if he could lay down a hand on Boruto. the scene is very reminiscent of when Naruto has a panic attack in Shippuden episode 209.

Since Amado said that the pills could have side effects SPECIFICALLY on Boruto because he inherited the potential for the byakugan (because of his Hyūga blood), I knew I should be concerned. I'm sure those details will matter when you least expect them 😢

My favorite parts of the episode are the points where Naruto and Boruto's relationship is shown to have grown. First is when Boruto finally feels safe enough to relax and fall asleep. Naruto tells his son he is choosing him over being Hokage. Something that Naruto has literally spent his entire life trying to accomplish and maintain. And something that we wouldnt have seen him do at the beginning of the series. Second is when Boruto takes the medicine without needing more than Naruto offering them and suggesting he take them. He has complete faith and trust in his father. Naruto took the lessons he learned about being a father from Iruka and positive male influence from Jiraiya and Kakashi and is using that to be one of the best dad's, finally, in Konoha. I still argue that Sasuke is the best dad.
