This was the experiment for selecting a Karma candidate. I am sure there were more experiments done, and since Garou doesn't have Karma, that was prolly a different experiment implanting their bodies with Scientific Ninja Tools, like Kawaki's arm thingy etc

Garo participated in experiments to introduce the Scientific Ninja Tool created by Amado into his hands, which caused it to fail and his arms were amputated and a standard hand blaster inserted. In addition to the introduction of Karma by Jigen, Kawaki also participated in the same operation to introduce SNT into the left hand which transforms into a blade and shoot a chakra blast, and he turned out to be compatible with her, unlike Garo.
