Fun fact, the manga never went deep with Mugino's character and backstory so the anime did an amazing job when storytelling his character . (on a side note: Happy birthday to Naruto :D )

First things first. HAPPY BIRTHDAY NARUTO! Man, Mugino is so dope dude. From understanding his way of life to his backstory with Hiruzen, it’s all so good! I love Boruto came around to calling him ‘Big Bro’. It also gives Hiruzen bail showing how busy he was and maybe not always allowing himself to be there for Naruto outside of basic necessities.

Still watching the episode but, Mugino's faith in people's story of pain makes me think of Obito and helping the elderly. I'll edit and add more after I finish. Naruto and Boruto make me think back to all the DnD games I've played. The best characters have the darkest backstories. Also it is nice to see how the character's backstory pays off in their actions. It really helps show their personalities. I'll add my birthday wishes also. Happy Birthday Naruto Uzumaki.

Its not the same building. Narutos old apartment building was destroyed in the Pain arc though it's clearly a similar low income housing with a similar design scheme.

I love this episode because is basically debunks the “Hiruzen neglected Naruto” thing. Mugino says that Hiruzen felt responsible for all the orphans and took care of all of them. So he really didn’t have time to be the “parent” everyone expected him to be to Naruto.
