Thanks for the Death Note reactions Jack!

Top 3 for me as well. A few things I’ve noticed over the many times I’ve rewatched this. - Matsuda shooting light was actually important. If ryuk would have just killed light without being shot, the investigators would have kept the case open assuming that another Kira killed light. Everyone will assume that light died from the gunshot wounds - L and light pretty much played their hands perfectly and lost to things outside of their control. If it wasn’t for rem, L would have tested the 13 day rule and caught light when he found out the rule was fake but rem interfered. Light would have won at the end if it wasn’t for mikami making a move on his own. You could say that he was too perfect of a choice because he mirrored lights actions. - They reveal that near’s name is Nate river but they never reveal L’s name in the anime. The writers of death note confirm that L’s name is actually L Lawliet - there’s a bonus clip of L’s funeral out there which is kinda nuts. It further showcases light’s insanity

Also love how Light dies in the middle of the stairs as if he wont be able to go to heaven nor hell

id love to hear your thoughts on if misa really committed suicide at the end there, after watching this i went and read some stuff on google and a lot of people say that its heavily implied but it is believed she did based on the fact that she was so in love with light and how she knew how short her remaining lifespan was since she halved it twice. However. we know misa had no memory of the deathnote again, and from how i perceived it, she was standing on that edge while light was dying on the stairs, so she couldnt have know he was dead. Plus, matsuda and aizawa hadnt found light yet so they couldnt confirm he was dead. maybe im reading all this wrong but i would love to hear your thoughts on it

I think she did. The scene with her on top of the building took after light died because she was still in the hotel during the events of light dying. The meeting took place right after light got off the phone with her. I don’t think her jumping had anything to do with her lifespan because even though it was halfed twice, it was still a huge lifespan because rem and jelous’s lifespan transferred to misa.

Misa definitely committed suicide imo. No Kira left unpunished.

Thanks for joining me on this journey everyone! Onto the next! :D

Loved following your reactions to what is one of my favorite shows of all time. I think there's something quite ironic about how Light's downfall at the end was that he chose a right-hand man (Mikami) who was too similar to himself which led to the whole writing of Takada's name in the Death Note. Also as somebody already stated, it makes for great symbolism how they made him die in the middle of the staircase, since a Death Note owner cannot go to either heaven nor hell. And yes, it is implied that Misa did commit suicide which makes sense considering just how much she loved him. I love how Matsuda was the one who shot him. He always had faith that Light wasn't Kira, and he ultimately got betrayed. Light was also the reason for Chief Yagami's death, someone who was almost like a mentor/father-figure to Matsuda, which makes the betrayal even more bitter. I could go on and on about my feelings for this show, but that'd end up turning into a whole dissertation lol. I think it would be great if you react to the bonus scene of L's funeral. You could include it during the video where you share your thoughts about the show as a whole, which I'm looking forward to.

Time for jack to react to the “10/10 masterpiece” that is the death note Netflix movie 😂😂😂

Idk if this is true but I’ve read somewhere before that in the manga Light told Ryuk to kill everyone in the room instead of Mikami.

You're welcome for voting this show as your reaction series. Now you can see how could anyone else vote something else other than this lol

As a manga reader, I can confirm that there's some truth to that. Light does ask Mikami to kill everyone, but upon realisation that Kira is not the god he envisioned, he refuses to do it. This prompts Light to, as a last resort, ask Ryuk to kill everyone. And at first it seems like Ryuk listens, only for him to reveal that the name he did write down was Light's.

I would have wished for one change to the ending. It says that light can go to neither heaven or hell. I think it would have been amazing if light actually becomes a shinigami once he dies. Then kills everyone by writing their names down in his own death note, grabbing all the real death notes left on earth then returning to the shinigami realm with Ryuk. I feel like with a show like this having a ending where NO ONE survives the outcome just feels right

This is an amazing show and in my top 10 favorite animes of all time. The ending was bitter sweet for me but I knew justice would come around to Light one of these days and once it finally did I got chills and couldn't believe he finally took the L.
