It just occurred to me now while re-watching this episode that for all the modernisation and progress the village has made, certain more old fashioned traditions still seem to stick around. Most of the children here from the previous main cast seem to follow more into their fathers footsteps, or their fathers clans footsteps instead of their mothers. In terms of Jutsu, anyway. Boruto, Sarada, Cho-Cho, Shikadai, Inojin... All of them seem to rely on what their fathers use more than what they could have learned from their mothers side. Both Inojin and Shikadai have briefly demonstrated that they can use their mothers as well, in some shape or form, but it's not their main focus. I'm curious if they'll end up balancing that out more as they get older or if they'll find something that's unique to them and not influenced by their parents.

Yeah that is one of the big changes between this series and the last. It's not so much that they only used the fathers side in both Naruto and Shippuden. In both those series almost none of the children we followed were a result of to clans having a child. Atm I can only think of one and that's Naruto himself. Ino, Choji, Shikamaru, Negi, Hinata, Kiba, and Sasuke all were from parents of one clan. Now there are a few that within the canon we know nothing about other than that neither parent was a ninja, those are Sakura, Lee and ten ten. I am sure there is more built on it in non canon material But I only have ever watched and read the canon and never have seen any of the fillers thus far. Clan wise for the Named clans within the villages they are all inbreed. To maintain the purity of the clan as many of those jutsu are passed on through the bloodline. Having children outside of the clan would weaken the trait. Pretty much my biggest issue with Boruto is this change. Maybe someday I will watch it but I have no interest in continuing the story that Shippuden left us. I really disliked the war arc and all the changes that happened within it.

Well Shikadai knows both Yin (Shadow Style) and Wind Style, so I see that as an improvement and benefit to the Nara Clan considering Temari is not necessarily from a Clan. If u wanna talk about past filler clans, well idk if u know of Ibiki's brother Idate's arc in the Land of Tea..where they had a racing competition and all- the 'Wasabi Clan' were known as some of the fastest shinobi naturally ever. And Wasabi from Boruto's class who was also regarded as the fastest in their class besides Metal..is also a pure breed of that very clan, so there are still some left but even if they do mix, I don't think it's bad, rather an addition to their arsenal. Choji mixed with Karui who also isn't a part of a clan like Choji, so it's not really a mix of clans there either, same with Sai and Ino, all it is..is an extra power to an already developing clan, they are not forgetting their abilities, they are passing them down..it's their secret hiden abilities that make the clans, not their genetics..remember that!

All true I sm sure. Idk who most of the filler characters you spoke of are as I dont watch those. I also know very little about borutos characters. I haven't watched it at all. Not saying that mixing of clans is a bad thing just that it was very uncommon within the canon of the first 2 series. As far as I know naruto was the only child of 2 different ninja clans. I am more than sure more were added for the anime but those characters dont actually exist. Also in some vases like Karin for instance her back story was added after the fact but we clearly did not see her in the exams at any point hehe. Idk how the explain genetics in boruto but normally in most shows incuding for Naruto character the mixing had negative effects on him. He was far weaker than either of his parents in terms of the genetics they passed on. Aside from his healing ability whuch was enhanced by karuma he has almost no talent in the uzumakis main ability, sealing. His fathers clan what we know of it had no bloodline abilities but so many throughout the series it is pointed out to him how he didn't compare to the fourth. Someday I will watch Boruto, but not till its complete and not till after I read it. I never watch an anime befor I read it's manga^^. Feel free to lmk about any other multiclan ninja fram the first 2 series I know I blanking on them considering I can only think of Naruto.
