Leaving Mirai behind and tied up is a callback to when naruto was left behind tied to the post after their own (OG team 7) genin test...

Mirai is around 17-18 years old now. Also another callback: Mirai caught Sarada in a genjutsu which was very similar to the one that Kurenai tried to put on Itachi in OG Naruto, which is kinda ironic since Itachi reversed it with basically zero effort.
