Basically there is NO WAY to bring back the dead as the soul moves on Ed lost his leg and Al lost his whole body doing the human transmutation and then Ed gave his right arm to bind Al's soul into the armor

obligatory comment about how the woman that Hohenheim was drinking with was a young Granny Pinako (Winry's grandma). The mid episode name cards would have made this obvious but for some reason Netflix only shows one of them so you don't get that confirmation.

As you put together this whole episode is very metaphorical, him debating with himself about the fate of humanity. The other people representing the possibility humans hold, and his other self representing a more cynical view of them. And as some others mentioned, the lady with the pipe is Pinako, Winry's granny as pictured in the old photo shown a ways back as that's how he remembers her.
