When lust was killed, she was screaming in pain, not rage. She was literally being repeatedly burned alive. Keep in mind that although the homunculi are basically immortal, they do still experience pain. She didn't enter into any kind of special form that made her stronger either.

Automail may be better than not having a limb anymore but it’s still not better than normal limbs as the attachment process is extremely painful (it being the attachment of every nerve of that limb), needs maintenance and possible adjustments with time, and the weather effects it a lot, so extreme weathers are unpleasant to be in. As shown when Ed had that trip to the desert (that was why he needed that bath in the water) and he has complained about the rain coming in the past too. Also some of them are heavy, but Winry is great so she’s good at making them light apparently xD
