Hello, hello! Monday has rolled around once more and that can mean only one thing! It’s dev blog time!!!

Well, as I’m sure you are aware, last friday we released chapter 2 of The Rise of the White Flower. We’re really happy about how it turned out but it was a lot of work getting it ready in time! Today we won’t be doing the usual Banshee did this, Vane did that, because it was mostly finishing everything up, adding to the game, and testing it lots. No, instead we would like to talk about the state of the project and where do we go from here.


First some stats, chapter 2 release with 95k words and 49 new CG’s making it far bigger than chapter 1 was, even with two months of development we still had to work very hard in order to get it done before our deadline, even working hard we still had to cut two scenes from the Patreon release because the CG was not ready in time, we will be adding these 2 scenes in the public release though.

Still, we’re learning as we go and we found a lot of inefficiencies in our work process, we’re going to be addressing those and that should see a noticeable increase in our productivity. But, we’re also probably going to scale back the size of the releases slightly to get to a more manageable level, working like we had to work for this release will most definitely lead to us burning out in a not too distant future, worse still, it can lead to a quality drop in our work! Don’t worry though, it won’t be a massive scale back, perhaps one less CG, and it’s variants, per release should already see us in a much better spot.


Now, let’s talk a bit about the future. We started to introduce a few new mechanics and systems in chapter 2, we will continue to flesh them out in the next chapter and continue to add new mechanics as we go. 

The next chapter will also, of course, continue the story. Strange things have been happening in Batria, unsolved murders, powerful magic items disappearing from the houses of nobles without a trace, a most strange reduction of activity in the criminal underworld. Strangest of all though, the adventurer’s guild is refusing all quests to investigate these events, and the Imperial Guard’s investigation has been uncharacteristically lax, to say the least. Help solve this mystery in the next chapter of The Rise of the White Flower, who knows what secrets lurk in the dark shadows of the capital?
